@janeellen- Welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect. I agree with you. Perhaps a 3 month wait? PET scans pick up things that are inflamed. It can't tell whether something is cancerous or not. Prior to my first lung surgery, a rib glowed pretty well. I had hit it, which led me to have an Xray, which led me to a cancer diagnosis. What led you to have these tests?

Hi. A year ago I went to the ER as I thought I was having a heart attack. Turns out it was indigestion. But ER doctor looked at CT and honest to God acted like I had Stage IV lung cancer because there were a few nodules, which I now know are not uncommon and usually benign. But that put me on this medical merry-go-round for the past year. x-rays, CT scans, PET scan, blood test, more extensive blood tests, full bone scan, biopsy, another biopsy. All negative-I have NO symptoms And the way I was treated by some of the doctors was just rude. Honestly, I feel used and abused. I think yearly CT is appropriate, not five/six months. I'd feel differently if there were other results, or ANY symptoms.

@janeellen- I might surprise you to know that some NSCLC's do not cause any symptoms when they are small. But this doesn't mean that you might still have cancerous lesions. How many CT scans have you had since your first one a year ago?
