Hiv test indeterminate. Looking for answers!

Posted by ohkaney @ohkaney, Mar 7, 2019

I was tested for hiv in October months ago i was negative. My girlfriend was assaulted and since then she has gone through every std testing including hiv. She was negative for everything besides chlamydia. She was treated for it and everything was fine. She was tested once every two months for hiv and was negative

After counseling we agreed we woukd use condoms until she was okay with going back to unprotected sex.

We worked up to going back to unprotected sex again in the beginning of February. Beginning of march i started developing symptoms of Chlamydia. She immediately went to the doctor and her hiv test came back negative. I went after she received her results i got blood work done. I had a minor uti which we assumed was from the Chlamydia. The doctor did a 4th generation anti body test on my blood and the results came back indeterminate. My girlfriends results were negative.

Could the Chlamydia be messing up the test causing an indeterminate or could i possibly be hiv positive.

Hi @ohkaney that must be so difficult and heart breaking to go through that with your girlfriend. It also must be difficult not knowing if you could possibly be HIV positive.

I wanted to share this piece about Chlamydia and HIV in hopes you could gain some insight from it: http://www.aidsmap.com/Chlamydia/page/1044825/

Back to you @ohkaney have you asked your doctor your question?
