Eric Berg has had seizures due to epilepsy since he was 12 years old. This past year, his seizures increased in frequency, affecting his day-to-day life and his ability to work. With encouragement from his fiancee, Eric sought treatment at Mayo Clinic.
At Mayo Clinic, experts are using a new way to treat some seizure disorders: repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation, or rTMS. This treatment uses a magnetic field to stimulate certain areas of the brain. While often used to treat depression, repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation also is showing promise in treating seizures.
On the Mayo Clinic Q&A podcast, Eric Berg shares his story. His physician, Dr. Jeffrey Britton, a neurologist and chair of the Division of Epilepsy at Mayo Clinic, also joins the podcast and explains how repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation is used to treat seizure disorders.

Yes thank you
I have pretty bad sleep apnea, use a B-Pap and love it. It does help....if you use it. I continued to have sleep difficulty, restless leg syndrome is very bad, pain of course, anxiety and so on. I'm off all pain meds, on no sleep meds other than melatonin capsules, take an extra strength tylenol, believe it or not. With all else, it does help. I now use 1:1 THC/CBD at night, 1 dropper of tincture, before bed.I sleep well, continuously through the night, and am rested. Pain is controlled, anxiety is relieved, Requip addresses the RLS - works wonders! So, I am off all heavy drugs to these problems. The answers are working very well in combo. I couldn't do it w/o the THC/CBD. Pain and anxiety. My PCP doc prescribes the marij. and is very knowledgeable. For me, this is the answer to many of my issues.
I only use it sparingly during the day. A little spray of THC if pain is breaking through. A CBD gummie or a 1/2 dropper of tincture for anxiety if needed.
I was quite proactive re the marijuana, as I was at my wits end and desperately wanted to get off the heavy drugs. Working in concert with my Mayo docs, I've accomplished that, but only with the help of the THC/CBD. Otherwise, I'd have to be on drugs w/side effects.
I may ck out the Sleep Health Group.....
One personal word re your Doctor's reaction...not enough studies, etc. I heard that a lot. But, many people have used Marijuana for many reasons. I have found through the years, the medical professionals tend to be pretty slow trying something different or not used for your purpose. Chiropracters, accupuncture, massage, so many other areas. Some, with the qualified person, work for some of us. Some don't. So, I decided to try, slowly and carefully, with research of my own, marijuana to see if it helped. Carefully! It does for me.
Yes I found the same thing as i use it to control my cancer and sleep. I take THC (Phoenix Tears) 2 hrs before bed sleep right through the night don’t even wake for the bathroom. It’s a great natural remedy.
@amandajro Seems like most of folks on here are searching for something, anything, desperate to get help, relief and answers.
Yep! And, I'm 73 years old. Just now finding real solutions to problems, questions, illnesses I've had for many years. And, I spent many, many years with doctors who weren't interested in solving my problems, or who didn't allow questions-thought I was attacking their knowledge, or who treated me like a 'woman'....everything was emotional, caused by my emotions and I had no say in my care. Well, I began to fight for myself! Now, we are blessed with a new way of thinking among many med. pros. But, I'm still standing up for myself and fighting for answers. THat's a good thing.
Thanks, Colleen. Very helpful!
