Posted by cayleykerr123 @cayleykerr123, Mar 9, 2021

Hi there

I am worried about my test results and symptoms. My doctor is not sure why the levels are so high. I have low energy, low
Sex drive. Frequent periods(every 2-3 weeks). My heart feels like its racing at times. Please help!

@cayleykerr123 A big warm welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect, a place to give and get support.

So that I can direct you to correct location and members, may I ask for you to clarify what LDH and SHBG means?

@erikas I just googled, SHBG is Sex Hormone Binding Globulin:
https://medlineplus.gov/lab-tests/shbg-blood-test/.

LDH is Lactate Dehydrogenase (LDH) Test:
https://medlineplus.gov/lab-tests/lactate-dehydrogenase-ldh-test/.

I still don't really understand why they are done though. One did mention low energy.

@cayleykerr123 It sounds like you and your provider are confused on how to interpret these results and you are reaching out for help. Since members, mentors, and moderators are not medically trained, your medical question may go unanswered. What Connect can offer is support from peers and suggestions. I want to connect you will members that can support you.

These tests you reference don't give us much information to go on. That's why you are here. Neither you or your doctor and sure what these test results and symptoms mean. I'm assuming that you doctor has referred you to another provider and/or is ordering additional tests?

Would you tell us more information? How long has this been going on? Was the low sex drive and low energy why the tests were ordered? Do you have any other medical or mental health diagnoses and/or taking any medications like antidepressants, that may cause these symptoms? Do you have a support person that can help you navigate the medical system and the stress of your unknown source of symptoms? Any additional information would be helpful.

I look forward to hearing from you.
