Anyone had a problem with neuropathy after receiving the vaccine?

I am 85 with small fiber neuropathy that is getting worse. My neurologist thought it would be a good idea for me to wait with the covid vaccine and not be first in line to see how it affected other people with neuropathy. Probably because it is a new technology. Has anyone had a problem with neuropathy after receiving the vaccine? If so, which vaccine?

I'm getting my second dose of Maderna tomorrow. The first dose wasn't to bad. Sore arm for two days and fatigue on the day of injection. It's probably worth the risk.

Hi I feel the same as you. I began having neuropathy symptoms ( burning, tingling, cold/hot sensations) the day after the first Pfizer shot. Tingling for a few days, then burning and other sensations. I went to two doctors - primary care and an oncologist that I see. Both expressed surprise at my symptoms but thought it might be related to an auto immune condition. I, too, have postponed the 2nd shot once and plan to postpone it again. As much as I want to get the vaccine over with, I can't see adding more of this vaccine to my body just now - not when, in my opinion, my immune system is still apparently over reacting. I wish you the very best with your decision - it is so difficult when we have very little, if any, data to guide us.

I would feel the same way. They need to investigate more if the shot makes Neuropathy worse. . I know I am afraid to take it bc I live in pain all the time & don't need any more pain. I wish you the best.

Has anyone had the Johnson & Johnson vaccine? It is a one time shot. I was just wondering if anyone had side effects with that shot.

I don't post very often but have been following al the posts re: neuropathy worsening. And my query is this: If you could go back in time, would you get the 2nd vaccine? I'm having some mild reservations & due to receive it in ~ 2 weeks. I didn't let my PMD know that I had such problems walking, in general, but didn't last that long. There was a bit more burning & restless legs. Plus got a low-grade temp. increase. I'm ok now but was a bit of rough patch. Got the Moderna. Have 2 older sisters....one got the Pfizer a couple of wks. before my 1st shot; had only a little fever & tiredness. Got the 2nd and great. The other sister got the Mderna a few days ago & has not, as of yet, sent an email. I take that back...she wrote later that evening after receiving it & reported both she & hubby had sore arms & a touch of nausea. I don't think she as had anything else or would have said. But I have had pre-existing neuropathy for a few years and neither of them are "lucky" to have that in their hx. Would someone(anyone) advise re; getting 2nd Moderna? Because a pharacist told me to maybe just get the J & J shot and be done w/ it that way. Thanks. I know you'll are not doctors but sounds like more symptoms than I had & am stewing a bit over whole thing. Kathy

I want to more about the J & J vaccine. I think it depends on the person on how you feel & with all my problems I am scared of it.

@chezp169, This is indeed a very important decision and only you can make it. I get my second shot of Pfizer tomorrow. I am worried about it, but I want to be able to see my friends and eat in restaurants. I have lots of other medical issues, as do many of this group. If we gathered a list on all of our maladies, wouldn't that blow someone's mind? I believe tomorrow is also my last chance. I am taking it and I wish you the best as you make this critical decision. I do wish there had been a choice so I could take the J & J. Ah well, I am thankful I have this opportunity with Pfizer. Warm regards, @joybringer1

Joy, I totally agree with all of you who are reluctant to get their 2nd shot; I honestly don’t know what I would decide if I knew then what I know now. On one hand you have to consider husband, family, friends etc. because of uncertainty re: new strains and effectiveness of existing vacs, also desire for more freedom socially and less fear of contracting the virus; on the other hand there is the chance your health will suffer and pain could increase and you may be worse off than before in comparison to a possibly benign response to contracting COVD. Very hard choice but I might lean towards waiting if that is a viable possibility. We’ll still all be wearing masks for a while anyway. I am still not back to pre-vac. symptoms and my 2nd shot was Feb.10, I am better but some changes remain, I’m hoping they too will resolve. Helen

Thank you for replying. so I was just told that the first shot does not build antibodies we need both, I have a lot to think about.

I totally agree with you. I have my husband & family I have to worry about but they had there shots & I am pretty much home bound with all my issues. It is a hard choice bc I was considering it but if I get worse than I am now then I will not be able to function.

Hi @chezpl69 I believed antibodies were developed on the first dose but not enough. That is why the 2nd dose was needed for better immunity. I would be interested which source gave you that information. Was it a physician? Thanks.
