Hi @mmr1984, would you mind elaborating on your question? Were you looking to speak to someone specifically or are you asking a question to the whole group? Did you get a false negative on a test for autoimmune hepatitis?

Hello @mmr1984,

You've asked an interesting question. Most diagnoses that are made (especially those made by specialists) are a combination of symptoms as well as medical tests such as blood tests, MRIs, and scans of other types.

If you ever have a lab test (I'm assuming that this came from a blood test) it is always appropriate to ask to have the test done again to be sure it is correct. You would then have the opportunity to let the doctor help you with that decision and to let you know if there are other factors that are contributing to the diagnosis of "autoimmune hepatitis."

Does this help?

@mmr1984, Here is information about Autoimmune Hepatitis from Mayo Clinic.
Do you have other autoimmune conditions? For me, when my liver function tests were abnormal, I was evaluated and tested for a variety of liver conditions. Then as my GI ran out of testing options, he began to consider AIH because I do have a family history of some autoimmune conditions. This happened 20 years ago, so I am relying only what I can remember. I was treated with prednisone and then with imuran to reduce the amount of prednisone/side effects. I remember a biopsy, too. When my liver function numbers and liver biopsy did not react as they should have, my GI connected with an associate liver specialist and they agreed that I should be considered for a different liver disease. I did not have AIH.
Here is information about AIH from Mayo Clinic.
