Hello @coralbells1

As I'm not familiar with this disorder, I looked it up on Mayo Clinic's website. Here is a link to that information, https://www.mayoclinic.org/symptoms/neutropenia/basics/causes/sym-20050854. As you can see from reading this article, there appear to be many reasons for developing neutropenia including cancer treatments, infections and certain medications.

Here is a Mayo Connect discussion that includes some information about CLL and Neutropenia. https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/cll-1/

Have you or a family member personally received this diagnosis? If so, do any of these causes apply to your situation?

I grew up in St. Louis Missouri in the central USA which was dusted by radioactive Utah atomic test fallout. No. This exposure didn't "cause" my blood cancer. But it did increase my odds of it. As well as others growing up in the central United States.

@coralbells1, how are you managing neutropenia?

I don't know what causes neutropenia. My husband has been neutropenic for along time. Partly from his two different blood cancers and partly from treatment. What we have found to help keep him from getting sick is, he takes a vitamin C, zinc, and a probiotic twice a day. He has not had any illness since last December. We really feel this is helping. Good luck to you.
