Amitriptyline use for neuropathy
My neurologist prescribed Amitriptyline for me as sleeping has been difficult at times. I have to say it’s been working and I have no side effects. I don’t take it every day. I kind of know now when to take it...if my symptoms are bad during day. Still waiting on nerve biopsy test. It’s been 5 weeks now. Started a new job which keeps me so busy, keeps my mind off things. I wish you all my prayers daily.

I haven't tried Tramadol as yet. I am on blood thinners so my choices are limited. What kind of supplement do you find helpful? Yes the rheumatologist did the 18 point test, but I don't recall hearing the answer from her. Just that I have fibromyalgia. I have wanted a punch biopsy but she did not know where or how to do it; she recommended that I see a surgeon. ?? I can't spend the money for surgery that seems unnecessary. Years ago another doctor did a skin biopsy in my finger and it was done right in the office.
My husband is sick and runs up our medical bills often so I don't want to spend any money left on myself unless it is absolutely necessary.
Ok.. since no medicine since Friday, I do wake up in a lot of all over pain. Today I ate some oatmeal and then took a Tylenol. It is helping "some" but still in pain. Will call my doc tomorrow, but what is even left for me I don't know. I will ask him about Tramadol too. Thank you.
@maryflorida. The medicine that helps me is the supplement is Fibrorelief from the Fibromyalgia treatment group Type it on and will come up When the pain is relentless I take Tramadol I don't have any side effects from it . Usually I take before bedtime but if needed during day .Ice,Hot showers or heating pad ,Epsom Salt soak in tub ,I can't get up if I'm down so just sponge bath with it It will take time before you have enough in your system so patients is needed Dr.s are skeptical about opioids but if he knows you will use it accordingly hopefully he will prescribe it
@maryflorida So sorry to hear about your unrelenting pain and inability to find relief! There’s got to be something this esteemed group will come up with.

Mary, have you thought about a pain pump? There is a discussion on Connect about it:
https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/pain-pump-i-have-one-how-about-one-for-you/
You very likely may be familiar with that discussion, but just in case. The person who started it said his pumps Dilaudid into his system, not sure if that would be something that you could tolerate. Hank
@maryflorida
Another question, have you already explored medical marijuana for you pain? Or CBD oil. Or Kratom? I'm just trying to brainstorm other possibilities for you. Please forgive me if I'm covering old territory you've already crossed. Best, Hank
@maryflorida I recently saw a sign in CVS which speaks of taking Acetaminophen and Ibuprofen together. Something like 500 mg of acetaminophen and 200 mg of ibuprofen, I think. Maybe ask your Dr about that concoction.

Hello @neuroliz, Sometimes the notifications can be overwhelming. I unsubscribed you from this discussion. Here's how to stop all notifications - https://connect.mayoclinic.org/get-started-on-connect/#stop-restart-notifications
@maryflorida Hi Girls, you can take acetaminophen with an NSAID (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory) such as aspirin, advil, ibuprofen etc. bc they are two different things (properties) but you can't take two NSAIDS together. That would be doubling up. BTW, people tend to think acetaminophen is so benign they can take more than directions say but it can be highly toxic to the liver. And a very painful death. Always best to check with your doctor. Take care, Sunnyflower
Mary, bless your heart. I am so sorry for your pain! I like your attitude. Sometimes when I've reached my human pain tolerance threshold, I beg the Lord to take me now, but always say right after, "Your will not mine, here am I, send me" like Isaiah 6:8. So rough yet He always gets me through! I will pray for relief from your pain and the peace of God through Christ that surpasses all human understanding (Philippians 4:7). Warmest regards, Sunnyflower
