CT scan
My 6 month CT scan is this Wednesday. I hope all is still clear-- will combine the CT scan with a mammogram (routine). Anyway, thanks to all of you, I am doing really well emotionally as well as physically. I actually look forward to whatever the tests show. I"m more concerned about two rescue dogs I've gotten. recently. They have some health issues that need treatment. One little fellow has a MAST cell cancer that will be removed. I've lost two dogs in the past to this and hope this little guy--a Boston Terrier rescue named Bucky, does well. He will have surgery this coming Saturday. My other one--a collie mix of some sort namedTeddy will be treated for heartworms. My point in all of this is that I appreciate all the support from you and the advice--staying in the moment, being grateful, and knowing that I can "vent" when necessary. Will let you know the CT scan outcome by next week when I see my oncologist. Have a marvelous week all of you.

Haven't found anything via google. YOu bet I'll have questions tomorrow. Got this info from my PCP and will see the oncologist tomorrow. All of a sudden, the oncologist is seeing people in real-time! Hooray. I"ll let you know what he says. Think it is time to return to my pulmonologist. and will also ask about that. Here's hoping for the best. He's a good oncologist and kindly.
Prayers for answers.
@alamogal635 - Please don't be afraid, this can be something exactly what your doctor said it was. There is a downside to all of our wonderful technologies and that is you get the bad with the good. When I say bad I mean CT scans pick up all sorts of things. After my first operation, it picked up a shadow and I thought that I had another tumor. I was panicked. Since then my CT scans have picked up bits of clustered pneumonia cells, different things that I have asperated like phlegm. "Pulmonary aspiration is a condition that occurs when a person inhales a foreign substance into their windpipe and lungs. It often happens when something a person is eating or drinking goes down the wrong way. Or, it can occur when someone breathes in: water, such as when swimming or playing in a pool or river" (Medical News, 2019).
Your body will absorb it. I was very surprised when I learned this. A little while ago, I had, in my lower left lung, 2 lesions that were a concern. One is still being watched and the other was deemed something that I had either aspirated or a bit of an infection. Oh, also lung infections can also show up on CT scans.
Does this make sense?
@merpreb Thank you. IT DOES make sense. Lord if anyone can swallow wrong, or aspirate something--I have always been the champion! I am calm. It will be interesting to know if somehow I swallowed a TicTac whole and that is what showed up on the scan :-). Lord knows what it might be. My PCP is different in personality from my oncologist. He's kind of calm and laid back where she is more ready to pounce on anything she is not certain about. When I see the oncologist today, he will explain what it is and what we can do, or if nothing needs to be followed up about it. I'm really more concerned about an earring that came off and that I can't find on the bedroom floor! You are such wonderful support. Thank you for writing back. I admire your strength and fight over all these years with your issues related to lung cancer. Bless you. I"ll let you know what the doctor says this afternoon after this appointment today. It's a beautiful fall day here.
Hi @alamogal635 ,
Thanks for the upate! How wonderful that no new cancer was seen. I can understand you questioning the unknown spot. I hope your oncologist is able to put your mind at ease regarding that. I look forward to your posting again after your appointment.
Just talked with oncologist. No caner as I knew and he isnot concerned at all about the nodule. He is almost certain there is not cancer connected to it. He thinks it is mucus trapped in the airway to the lung--no really in the lung and will resolve itself. Yes, I am at peace. Will have an ealier CT scan in January to see that all is well. My appointment was by phone.
Wonderful news, @alamogal635! Congratulations.
@alamogal635- Yipee! Just wonderful news. This sure made last night's rest peaceful, I bet! My next CT is in January too. We can hold each other's hands as we get closer!
What will you do now that your worries can be postponed?
@merpreb--I slept the sleep of the just that night. Wonderful. Will look forward to holding your hand as January nears. You are sweet to think of me. Hope your weekend is a good one.
@alamogal635 so happy to hear! Wonderful news. Congratulations!
