Grid/Net shaped rash
My boyfriend gets these net-shaped patches on his back once in a while, according to his mom it's been happening since he was a teen. What is it? It doesn't hurt or itch. He takes a medication called Modecate.

Have you Googled Puss caterpillar or other caterpillars that live in Israel?, Although a arid country you have farming and tree and shrubs around homes. Did you google the photos we have discussed showing photos of these caterpillar rashes that resemble the photo you sent us?
i can't find any info on the web about that kind of caterpillar in israel, or any other kind that causes a rash like my partners
the only moth/caterpillar i did find information about is called Thaumetopoea but it causes a rash that looks different
What a mystery.
That was my first thought also. Does he sleep without a shirt? I've seen a lot of memory foam mattresses that have a similar pattern or cover. If it's always when he wakes up, I would be looking very close at the surroundings, especially since there is no pain or swelling, raised bumps, etc..
it's definitely not a pattern from pressing against a net. it appeared on his back for the first time when he was a teen in psychiatric ward. and it still continues to happen today at age 26, 10 years later
John- did you google the information about the pattern of the puss caterpillar bites? It's unlikely to be the cause because of where her boyfriend lives, yet I think you would find it interesting how similar the reaction rash from this caterpillar bite looks to the photo she sent in.
@gardeningjunkie, I saw the alien stuff first and couldn't bring myself to post it 🙂 I did see the puss caterpillar info too but the pattern didn't look the same and supposedly it's painful which his is not. Definitely weird and I wish we could find something to help. At least it doesn't appear to be affecting his health and well being.
@karenamara - The grid pattern is almost the same as mine - my wife noticed it in 2019 - I live on the east coast of Australia. There is a very distinct pattern and sequence to the markings.
This grid like pattern is not like my rashes but I have seen photos of this rash for years. Look up Puss Caterpillar. Many determine that as the cause.
I am from canada and had the same type of pattern. I was also recovering from bronchitis when I woke up to the pattern on my back and it got darker through out the day, then it went away for a week before coming back but was very light the second time. No patterns that would match that anywhere, I looked at where I have been laying. This was like 6 or 7 weeks ago
