Early stage lung cancer

Posted by malkani07 @malkani07, Sep 3, 2020

Hello everyone!
Hope you are all well

My father is diagnosed with early stage 1 lung cancer 0.2 CM squamous cell carcinoma. I want to bring my father to United States for treatment (surgery etc whatever doctors will recommend).

Can anyone in group please help me in sharing information how long the treatment process? Estimated cost for the whole treatment As a international patient? Any successful cases you know? Your help will be very useful

Thank you so so much

@malkani07- Good morning. Mayo Clinic is the top hospital in the US. You can't go wrong! MGH is rated the second-best. I'm glad that you are contacting other hospitals. Medical care in this country is phenomenally astronomically high.

I can tell that you love your father a lot! I wish you and your dad the best and I hope that he can come to the US and be treated as fast as possible. Please do keep us updated so that we can learn from your experience and perhaps help others who are in the same position.

If I can be of further assistance please let me know. I may not be able to offer the technical aspects of coming to America but I and others on Mayo Connect can offer support and comfort to your whole family. Connect is a worldwide on-line community and we have wonderful, warm people from all over the world helping others. We also have a Caregivers group that your mom or siblings might want to look at as well as yourself.

Excellent advise. With the COVID-19 it will be tougher to get into United States and if do You will need to be quarantined for 14 days before and after the 14 days anything can be started.

@richcolleen- Oh no! That's terrible. Are you in pain from your vertebroplasty? Are you anxious about your up-coming scans?

@richcolleen Gosh, that fractured vertebra sounds tough. You are brave. I'm thinking and praying for you.

Was tough waiting (5 weeks to see neurologist) to have cement injected. Since than back is feeling much better.

Pain was really bad before. This is a piece of cake and getting better everyday. Scans are what they’ll be. Accepting whatever.

I am in the same situation. They did a scan for something else and saw the node. It is very early and the docs believe 5 radiation treatments will take care of it.

@jaymor82- Welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect. Can you tell me more about the reason that you were scanned and what type of cancer he thinks that you have?

Having an Xray is how I found out that I had lung cancer. Have you scraped yourself up from the floor as yet? I don't know how I ever drove home from the hospital.

Do you have any symptoms?
