Gamma knife treatment in 2018 for meningioma around the optic area

Tessie, have you had a discussion with your specialists about how cerebral amyloid angiopathy might affect some of the symptoms you're experiencing? Or is it clear that they are caused by the meningioma? Have other treatment options been suggested to shrink or treat the tumor?

Hi @nanatessie ,I have had some experience with meningiomas involving the optic nerve. I had a resection in 2010 for that one(on the right side) and 2 others.My neuro chose a more conservative approach to do no harm to my optic so some tumor was left. I had cyberknife radiation on that tumor and a tumor lying next to my brain stem, then in 2017 (I think) had gamma knife on a tumor close to my optic nerve on the left side. Unfortunately the tumor on the right has started growing again, actually pushing out the side of my face, so will be doing another surgery in Sept. I'm a glass half full, even if it's sour milk:-) kind of gal so just take things as they come. I think we're all different so each case has it's own individual approach. None of my tumors have shrunk with either type of radiation and I also have eye issues, dizziness, nausea, etc. but, on the bright side, I'm alive:-) I'm glad I did the radiation and the surgeries and will just keep plugging on, in pain a great deal of the time, but also trying not to be one:-) I wish you all the best and have great admiration for all tumor warriors. I have been told that the amyloid angio would definitely cause these but also the meningioma could cause it. I have been told so many different things that I am not sure what to think. Thank you for those other places to look. Do I just push on those places and it'll come on?
