anyone feel more burning/numbness when sitting
Hi I am getting beyond frustrated! Laying down puts my pain at 110% ,sitting in a chair puts the numbness and burning way over my threshold of pain. I can hardly sit at a table to write, eat, carry on a conversation, within minutes I question if my feet and calves actually look as painful as they feel! They look fine yet oh the nerves just go nuts firing in all directions with a bed of hot coals. I have been on every medication to to man, even some unknown! Thanks for your knowledge Marianne

@sunnyflower it is not an easy decision to make. May I suggest talking to the physician who wants to prescribe a medication. Discuss your concerns and if the benefits outweigh the risks. What are the goals you want to achieve? Be prepared to ask questions. Doctors don’t want their time wasted. I believe they will be more cooperative with organized patients. Besides being organized will allow more time for you to ask questions anyways. I would take all the input, think about it before coming to a conclusion. If need be, do more research of your own with the internet and/or by making phone calls. Best of luck!
Yes, Sunnyflower, cuts take longer to heal lately and I don't know whether it's because of age (I'm 69) or neuropathy. Peggy
Yes, I agree. I address that talk we already had with my doctor in the post you are replying to.
I worked as a Medical Assistant in patient care for over 20 years. My career goal was to be a Physician Assistant and had extra training outside my job. The providers I worked with knew where I was heading so they were training me along the way. They were great! Then I became too sick to continue pursuing my goal.
I have been a patient with many specialists for over 35 years. I pretty much know the drill and what makes for a happy doctor. That is to keep them on schedule!!
As the saying goes, everything in medicine is a
benefit /risk ratio and often a no-win; quality of life with unwanted consequences. Medicine, part science and part art of practice.
I am grateful for the wonderful care I've received over the years. Not perfect and not all wonderful, but most.
Warm regards, Sunnyflower
Hi @sunnyflower, your experience as a Medical Assistant has certainly been a big plus in dealing with your medical issues. I am glad you have had the opportunity for additional learnIng outside your job. It makes it much easier to understand the reason behind medical treatments. When I was asking about your goals, I was referring to your goals for the medical condition. Determining what goal you want to achieve with the medical condition will help you make a decision with the treatment after speaking with your physician. Staying focused on a path to take will make the decision easier for you. Best of luck!
Hi Peggy, yup, I think it's a combo of age, meds and health conditions. Warmest regards, Sunny
Hi, I just do the best I can to stay on top of everything. It is almost a full-time job to be your own Advocate but I have had to do that for years. I have fallen through the cracks for example, once I had three low-sodium and nobody told me. And a low cortisol. I wasn't called. That's when we found out my adrenal glands had bit the Dust. Shameful! Thank you so much for your input! Blessings, Sunny flower
Hi Sunnyflower, I also have osteoporosis after done a calcium test and been recommended to take Saludynam's Calcium gluconate - link at bhbhealth dot com / products / saludynam This calcium is liquid and it doesn't cause kidney stones. Take 1 small cup (the bottle comes with it) before bed time, once a day. A bottle can last 1.5mth
Hi notborntoburn, I wonder how is your progress. For others here's my experience. I had tingling effect on both feet and I had rough time getting to sleep but after my bypass, it was all gone. I can sleep like a baby. I thought it was due to the meds. Then now when I try to sit to paint, and when I stand my both feet can ben seen turning black especially the veins. After walking a bit its back to normal. Its the same after I even switched chairs. I now suspect Imdex (Isosorbide mononitrate) is causing this side effect. My feet all the time had numbness and tightness feeling even resting on bed. I'm starting to take TienChi (Panax notoginseng) powder to unblock my arteries/veins of my feet. Today is just 2nd day. It'll take a few days to see the effect. I'll update on this.
You'll really need to watch out what is your food intake. NO cold drinks. Avoid fry food/fats. Do NOT simply exercise on your legs eg bicycling to further injure your nerves.
Have you researched thiamine for your small fiber peripheral polyneuropathy? Also vitamin D may offer relief for the spinal stenosis along with boron. Both thiamine and vitamin D require sufficient magnesium for activation. A deficiency of active thiamine can be an overlooked cause for burning feet and peripheral neuropathy. As you search on "krispin magnesium" you'll find pain on the list of causes for magnesium. Search on " Is Thiamine Deficiency Destroying Your Digestive Health? Why B1 Is ESSENTIAL For Gut Function". Also research glutathione to reduce inflammation..
