Just starting to use CBD oil as a rub on joints. Experiences?

Posted by bushy @bushy, Jun 24, 2020

I'm starting use of a CBD rub for my painful knee joints. Anyone having luck with that, and if you take edibles, what's the dosage?

@cldmeyers, Good luck with your Cannabis medications. If anything I would use a topical for my knees. I use Papa and Barkley Releaf Balm. There is a 3:1 CBD/THC for chronic pain and a 1:3 CBD/THC for acute pain. This company also has Tinctures which I also use. I have a TKR and a Reverse shoulder replacement. Keeps me hoping to keep up with these old bones and joints.

May you be free of pain and discomfort.

Thanks, Chris -- As well as my knees, I have a thumb that goes out of place, plantar faciitis, and a few leftover pains from a severe fall on concrete that I suffered in December. What is a TKR? I'll see if I don't have that too. 🙂

Hi there @cldmeyers, wow......TKR....total knee replacement that can have tight tissue around the knee and leftover pains......we got you covered. I fell down a mountain once. Still dealing with the end game.
May you have health and ease.

I've ordered the hemp gummies from Amazon. Description doesn't include whether they're CBD or THC. Thoughts?

Good morning @cldmeyers, hmmmmm you want my thoughts. The hemp gummies on Amazon may not have any CBD or THC....just oil from the hemp seeds. If it does have CBD it is almost undetectable and legally this product must contain less then .03% THC. When the product arrives read the enclosed information thoroughly. It should contain the ingredients. I have never tried this product so I don't know if and how it might work on your pain from the fall or that telltale thumb.

By the way.....I also have thumb issues. Is it your dominant or non-dominant thumb? I have had surgery on one thumb....much improved. Have you seen a hand surgeon for an evaluation? Carpal tunnel can also cause pain and discomfort.

Do you have a regular doctor that you see every year? Have you mentioned these issues to that clinician?
Hang in there.......we will get to the bottom of this. Here is a reputable link about cannabis products.

Hi Chris,
I did not have good luck with CBD. I tried a level 5 through one of the health links and it didn't work. Purchased another brand at Guildford Medical in Greensboro, NC and that didn't work either. Regularly, I see a chiropractor for degenerative disc disease in my neck. He also recommended CBD through his source, also a level 5. Unfortunately, the cream has not worked on me. Until NC legalizes medical marijuana, as well as the rest of the country, our sources are not going to provide the potency needed for severe, chronic pain. May your CBD search prove more beneficial for you than mine was! Please keep us posted! Thanks for your input! Sherry

Good afternoon @curlylocks. Well, that's a bummer! My survival would be at stake. It doesn't look as if Guildford Medical would sell you ineffective products. My next stop was to take a look at the Level 5 products. I see that the active ingredients are listed as menthol and camphor in one paragraph. "Camphor (11%) and menthol (16%) are combined at the highest legal limit for non-prescription topicals in order to deliver holistic pain relief."

Here is what I can tell you from my experience. I had a "coach" when I began my search for cannabis products that would control and manage my neuropathy pain. At that time I was told that I needed to make sure that the product had THC in it along with the CBD.
Here is a link to an article in Leafy about the issue. I find Leafy a reputable cannabis industry source.

Although I had to work out the specific dosages, and relative CBD/THC amounts, I now am able to put together a daily medicinal protocol that handles quite a bit of the painful discomfort of not only neuropathy but also some of the standard aches and pains of aging.

I would hate to see that your lack of effectiveness from Level 5 may have more to do with what is in the jar than what is in your body. Will you please straighten me out if I am missing something?

May you be free of suffering and the causes of suffering,
Chis

I've been on hemp gummies for only 4 days for several points of pain mostly caused by a really bad fall on concrete. I would say that the "edge" has been taken off the pain so far.
