BTW, she's had many bone marrow biopsies and aspirations but, when done at MD Anderson, it was very easy. No meds before or after and no problem. The one or two she had done at places who don't do them as frequently, she had more problems. We think her back pain is probably due to the Granix they are giving her to help with her transplant grafting, it's a common side effect.

Here's her doctor's reply:
"I suspect the G-CSF she is getting to stimulate wbc growth is the culprit much like what her son/donor experienced when he received G-CSF as part of the donation. The marrow is hopefully expanding likely at a more than normal pace though her bone cannot expand with is as it is a solid, rigid structure; hence the marrow inside expanding causes pressure and the pain."

The donor was our son and he experienced pain in his leg as the prepared him for the transplant. I wasn't aware at the time that they were stimulating his cell growth, also, which is why he had to be at the hospital the 5 days preceding the procedure.
