Constant tinnitus: Are there any solutions?
It there any solution for constant tinnitis?
I have high pitched tones constantly though I have learned to ignore it mostly.
It can become louder at times, even loud enough to make me wince!

@2beagles
Just went and read the posts of yours about this. That is something all right! I wonder if that is being done more widely now as opposed to just at the U. of Maryland. I will definitely look into it. Thanks, Hank
Hank, your brain is in a fight or flight mode...I know it may sound nuts, but docs at U of M described it that way. His was caused by gun fire in Vietnam, He was almost crazy.....It has been at least 15 years since he was treated. His brain has transitioned and it doesn't drive him crazy. Read the story of William Shafner ..star wars...he is the person who go a divorce over this and finally got relief at U of M. Best of Luck.....
About 3% of people with tinnitus have “pulsatile tinnitus.”
People with p.t. have structural abnormalities, which is why we hear our heartbeats. It’s a whooshing sound.
Mine is 24/7 and was hard to accept when it began 10 years go.
Fortunately, there are surgical ways to correct some of these structural abnormalities.
See http://www.whooshers.com to learn about p.t. and surgical treatments for particular structural problems.

Same here. Would love to hear if there are any solutions out there.
I have had tinnitus for a long time. Initially it was extremely loud and now it is a soft constant white noise. Heading Aids did not help. I used my mind to “hush” it. I concentrate on the sound and push it down as if to suppress it. Sounds strange I know, but it changed the roaring train. I still do this, especially if I have been in a loud environment. Can’t hurt to try it.
