Pillcam is stuck... and still stuck
I had a pillcam done and it never came out. What next. You would think the doctor would have called me by now. Had an Xray on the 15th of April, then again on the 30th of April and it is still there. Now what?

@dablues, I'm sorry to hear that 6 days later, the Pillcam has still not made an appearance. I moved your new message to the previous discussion about the Pillcam being stuck in the hopes that @astaingegerdm might have some ideas to share.
@dablues Im sorry you havent heard anything . I would just keep calling till you get the Dr. Do you have a patient portal? If so you could contact him this way . Call your insurance also they maybe able to help you sometime you may have to resort to threating them . Then there is always the Medical Board .
@dablues @colleenyoung - I read the report and in the latest X-ray it is not mentioned that it is seen, right? The previous X-ray reported the pill cam in the pelvis = on the way out.
My impression is that it is not there and also no signs of damage to the intestine. Obviously, it has to be confirmed by the doctor.
I have no idea when mine passed. It was still there on follow up before I left Mayo. I was reassured that I did not have to worry. The only thing I had to do is stay hydrated.

3 ReactionsHi @hdd, I am so glad to see you comment on Mayo Clinic Connect!
I did a search for Brunners Gland hyperplasia and found three discussions: https://connect.mayoclinic.org/search/discussions/?search=Brunners%20Gland%20hyerplasia
Have you been able to talk to your provider about your bleeding?

4 ReactionsYes, I am supposed to have an enteroscopy, but I have to get rid of camera and get cleaned out! I was in the hospital in March with a hemoglobin of 6.9. Had blood and iron transfusions for 2 days.
Thanks for asking!!

1 ReactionInteresting to read. I hope your situation is long resolved. Pls update if you are so inclined.
I did a pillcam years ago, and never saw mine come out...I watched diligently for many days.
To my knowledge I have no bleeds but I thank you for sharing, I assumed eventually they just passed thru

2 ReactionsHi Janell, Back in March while I was in the hospital my new Hemotologist questioned why my Dr. (GI) who said after a colonoscopy, 1st he couldn't finish it, you have like varicose veins in my colon. He never did anything about it. He should have been concerned that he could not finish the colonoscopy I requested a new GI doc. That was in March and had to wait until July 10th to see a new doc. It was a NP who ordered the camera. I had to wait 4 months to see someone all the while knowing I was still bleeding.
Camera inserted Tues, received a call that night that showed multiple areas of bleeding. Now waiting to have a enteroscopy test, have to be knocked out so he can go in there.
There is no urgency with anyone!! Kills my soul.
The main goal now is to get rid of the camera!!

3 Reactions@hhd, that sounds awful.
I don’t know if you are in a place to visit a GI at an academic health system but it may be a good next step for you since they are integrated with a medical school. You also may find a good one here, the top GI locations in the US: https://health.usnews.com/best-hospitals/rankings/gastroenterology-and-gi-surgery
Have you been able to connect with others about your Brunners Gland Hperplasia? I ran across this Mayo Clinic information you may find interesting: https://www.mayoclinicproceedings.org/article/S0025-6196(17)30638-9/fulltext
I eventually landed at Mayo Clinic GI for my own issues and am have made good progress. You can pursue an appointment with them here: http://mayocl.in/1mtmR63
Please post as you learn more, and hopefully get an enteroscopy scheduled. How are you feeling?
