Nebulizing Equipment

Hi all....Does anyone know if the Neb Kits are interchangeable with different Nebulizing Compressors? I have a Drive Compressor and would like to try the Pari Neb kit for my compressor but I am not sure if it would fit. Seems that it would be interchangeable since it is just a connecting tube from the compressor to the kit. I'd need to get my GP to write a script so I don't want to get it wrong. Thanks for any thoughts.

Thanks auntnanny. You mention Bartlesville; a place I think of as the "biggest, brightest" little city anywhere. With the unique Price Tower ala Frank Lloyd Wright, Phillips Petroleum, Reda Pump, Frank Phillips' historic home and Woolarock a few miles from town.

Let's see. Would that be Dewey or were you in Kansas? I spent my first 32 years in Tulsa so that why Bartlesville caught my attention.

alleycatkate I too would like to know more about the two different types of nebulizing equipment. I'm wondering why I the pari mouthpiece would not be okay to use for albuterol and saline. When I change from one to the other, I don't change tubing or compressors -- and I don't see or feel any difference in the delivery of any of it. Does anyone have an answer to this????? Thank you

@auntnanny I am unsure of the answer as I do not do albuterol but if it is just a matter of producing an aerosol from a liquid I would think most would be similar. I am wondering why you suggest that the Pari is not good for saline as that is what I am using it for.?? I just did get my Pari LC Plus in the mail. I like it better than the Drive mouthpiece. It seems to take less time to nebulize my full 4mls with the Pari and it seems a finer mist with less mist escaping or being wasted. I may be imagining that but I am happier with the Pari. Initially, I was unsure if the sizes of the different kits were the same but they all seem to be interchangable. Sorry I cannot be of more help.

@alleycatkate Hey Kate, when my journey started 2 plus years ago, I got my doc to write a Rx for a Sunset compresser and used the handset it came with. Then I heard someone say the Pari handpiece delivers better because its breath actuated (little flap that closes after each puff, thus less waste of med), plus, had a faster delivery time (about 10 min compared to 20). I bought this myself, no script, thru Just Nebulizers, for about $14 including new tubing. Got a handy little face mask too for times when my sinuses arent feeling well. Recently bought another Sunset compresser (about $35) as the 1st one was losing its "umph". Tubing was interchangeable, which answers your question. I remember doing the research on droplet size (smaller is better) and the Pari was a good one. As an FWI to anyone nebbing the Arikayce, I use that system (compresser and handpiece) to neb my 7% saline and it takes all of 2 minutes. That system is actually made by Pari. I called them, told them what I was doing and they said that's the normal time of delivery for saline .It is harsh, wouldnt recomend it for all, but I've had zero problems w saline. They also recomended I wipe the plug- in to the mouthpiece really well as the saline is so sticky.
Sorry for the lengthy response, it seems one thing relates to another and I'm off to the races! Kinda appropos, as I'm originally from Louisville Kentucky and the running of The Kentucky Derby was cancelled due to Covid!

@auntnanny When I nebbed the albuterol, i used the same mouthpiece for both with no problem.

When they added tobramycin 2 years later, they wanted me to use the pari -- which I do. I'm wondering if the pari is okay for saline and for albuterol or if I need to continue to use both kinds. I have no idea.

I use the same mouthpiece for everything, even Tobramycin when I have to use it. But haven't used Arikace, so I don't know if that's different. I also use the same on both my big clunky Pari compressor and my smaller battery one. As far as I can tell, alli the parts seem interchangeable and it's personal preference. I wish I could find a silicone mouthpiece as my teeth and jaws get sore. My daughter uses one of the tiny handheld impeller compressors but I'm afraid my arthritic hands wouldn't like holding it.

Hi Margie @margiebanks! Thanks for your reply. And it was just the perfect length...lol. No, it was interesting to find that you get your saline done in 2 minutes...Wow! That is really fast. I thought my new Pari mouthpiece was a lot faster than the old mouthpiece but I think it takes maybe 8 minutes instead of 12 or 13 with the old one. Wonder if that is because I do not have a Pari compressor.?? Sorry, you missed your races. Hope we will get back to something that looks like normal soon. Best to you, Kate
