I was just told my laryngeal cancer returned. Next step complete laryngectomy. I'm scared! I don't want to lose my voice box. What can I do??

Jeff. Thank you so much for your kindness. I'll let you know what Dr. Moore says Tuesday. I have to go up there Sunday for Corona testing, spend the whole day in Rochester Monday (is there any thing to do there??) and see Dr. Moore Tuesday morning. Didn't really want to make this a 3 day weekend with my bride, but what are you going to do?? Thanks for all your help Jeff. I've decided to let God be God. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

Mark, given COVID-19 I am sure that most of Rochester is going to be closed or operating on a minimal scale. The restaurants we always go when there is Canadian Honker for Breakfast, Terza a go to for Italian, and Pescara for seafood. I am sure that they will have curbside at minimum. We took advantage of the dining scene when I was feeling good enough to. The city of Rochester will pleasantly surprise you. I can honestly say that my temporary trach did not hurt my appetite or ability to eat. Please keep us informed. God Speed.

Thanks for the info Jeff. I have to spend Sunday and Monday nights there. You are so right about the Trach procedure. It is no picnic!! I'm throwing my fishing gear in my car. I think I'm pretty close to the river. They want a 48 hour prior Corona test. I'll keep you posted.

Mark, you will most likely have to get a MN out of state 2 day fishing license. Glad you are trying to make the best of the trip!

What if I fish on the Wisconsin side??

REPLY

I think you would fine fishing in Wisconsin as long as you don't let your line drift into MN waters. Good luck! MN 2 day license should not be that expensive either.

Change in plans because of Insurance. Now I'll see Dr. Moore at 8:00a.m. Thursday the 14th. Two days to make sure everything's good with insurance. God, I'll be glad when this nightmare is over.

Don't panic . Thank goodness something was seen. There are to many variables to know for sure what is going on. Your ENT may have told you worse case. IF it is cancer and your only one symptom it could be early.
I was followed 17 years and last 3 of those had lesions on my eppiglottis and folds by the same group that treated my cancer. I was treated for wrong diagnosis over 2 years before correct diagnosis. Had a total Laryngectomy June 17 2019 stage 4.
Wishing you well. Paulette

How you doing now phinken ? You're about a year ahead of me. How has your recovery been. My good news is I'm cancer free and out of 81 lymph nodes tested, 81 had no Cancer. I just have to learn how to adjust my lifestyle. I was a 65 year old man who loved to bike, swim, golf and spend my Winters in Florida.

I hope this finds you well on your recovery journey. All of us have had to come to grips with a new normal! The good news is that we are survivors who have the second chance to be a thriver and cease every day to do something spectacular! I am so glad you are on the other side! God Speed!
