Lung cancer with joints and muscles sore.

Posted by richcolleen @richcolleen, Apr 10, 2020

I have stage 4 lung cancer which has spread before caught. What I’m wondering if anyone has problems with all joints sore? I was on chemo and immune therapy 8 months and since (I quit chemo due to very sick days) been on just immune therapy and felt pretty good until the last week.

Thanks Colleen, thought I would get kicked out. Update from me,. Next appointments June 30, Rochester. Doing ok, being very careful and will continue to be careful. Question for those that have had radiation, sbrt, is it normal to have decreased breath capacity on the side of treatment? I'm finding stamina to be a problem.
Sure hope everyone is doing their best amidst the craziness. Find working on my yard, preparing for biggest garden in a long time is helping bunches. Also creating best dog day ever for Summitt.

@meka- Hi! Yes it's very common to have shortness of breath and fatigue. It's unfortunate that this wasn't explained to you. Your radiologist should have explained all of this to you. After 6 months when the effects peak it should get better. I was warned to be careful not to strain my lungs and if I exercised to use very light weights. Do you have any more sessions left?

Thanks, Merri. Think the timing of my treatment, just at the beginning of everything braking loose, made a difference. Plus, must admit, I seem to think that if I just keep moving it will be okay. Someone, therapist, reminded me that in less than a year and a half...been diagnosed, had surgery, been tapering off psych drugs, was hospitalized for almost three weeks undergoing ECT treatment and now have had radiation treatment. Um, why rest...

@meka- I know it's been very tough this year, especially for people who are undergoing treatments. But I think that saying to yourself, "keep going" is a good way to think. But instead of going full speed ahead tamper it down to a tortoise race! You have been through a lot of stuff, and in a short period of time. So just take it easy and keep on keeping on!

@richcolleen- Good morning. Have you spoken as yet to your Oncologist about getting relief from your aches and pains from Keytruda? They are normal side effects but can be very irritating because the last thing that you do not want is to be uncomfortable during treatments. I had a lot of stomach problems with my chemo and my oncologist did everything he could to make suggestions and Rx's to help. They weren't perfect but it sure was much better!

@shortshot80 Hello Nancy,

I am sorry to hear that you have exhausted all of your treatment options. What a difficult place to find yourself! I am glad that you still have a son living with you. We can all still pray for a miracle for you and I will do so.

I do want to take the opportunity to share with you how much I've appreciated the health journey you have shared with all of us on Connect. Your courage, faith and optimism have been an example and inspiration to us all. You have always approached each health situation with logic, courage and hope. Such a great way to handle life's problems. I have loved the stories of your church and their support for you as well. It helps so much to have a faith community to share your life with, doesn't it?

I am looking forward to reading your book when it becomes available on Amazon. Keep in touch with Connect, Nancy. If there is any way we can be supportive of you during this time please give a holler.

@shortshot80 - I know that I dread the day when I hear that no further treatments are available for my stage 4 lung cancer. I can't imagine how difficult this was for you to hear. You have certainly been an example of bravery and positive thinking and an inspiration to all of us. I too am looking forward to reading your book. It's amazing that you just pushed through and got this done despite the difficulties presented by your cancer and treatments. Thank you for letting us be a part of your journey and showing that each day is a gift!. I know that this is such a terrible time for social isolation so I am relieved to know that your son is still living with you. Bless you, and please let us know if we can further be of help.

HI TERESA, I AM DOING PRETTY GOOD. i LOOK GOOD AND FEEL GOOD RIGHT NOW. YESTERDAY WAS A GREAT DAY MY SON RANDY IS WITH ME FOR A COUPLE DAYS WHILE RICHARD WENT HOME TO BE WITH HIS WIFE. ANYWAY RANDY WALKED WITH ME A WHOLE BLOCK AND A QUARTER TO THE POST OFFICE AND BACK. IT WAS SUCH A LOVELY DAY AND WARM. THAT WAS THE FIRST TIME WALING TO THE POST OFFICE IN OVER A YEAR. I FEEL REALLY PROUD OF MY SELF TO DOING THE WALK. NANCY
