I’ve heard of it for incontinence. Did the doctor say it was for slow digestion?
Yes, I have very bad slow transit constipation, now ibs too, that hasnt improved with diet, lifestyle, or meds. It is sort of my next step.
Curious how you came about getting a dx for slow motility/digestion. Gastric emptying test? I am having a lot of distress post surgery for bile reflux 6 months ago. So, this is one test I am having tomorrow, just curious if you had it.
Sorry to hear. I first had a colonoscopy, which as normal. Then I took a sitz marker test. You swallow a pill pull of radioactive rings and they take xrays to follow the rings through your digestion process. There are different ways to do it. I took an xray, then took one pill, came back 3-4 days later and had the last xray. All of my markers were still in my body. So, they consider this slow transit constipation. I also had an upper scope which was normal. And finally a Defecography, which was normal, and Anorectal Manometry, which indicated i had some Dyssynergic Defecation. I did pelvic floor therapy, including biofeedback, for a year or so with little result. Im considered Chronic Idiopathic Constipation, which is unknown cause. Ive been on Amitiza, Trulance, Linzess now Motegrity.
Good luck tomorrow. I havent taken the gastric emptying test. So i cant help you on that one. The sitz marker was very easy.
I have 1 installed in 2017 at a cost of $30,000 (all paid by insurance). It has provided very little benefit (not worth the expense) but most troublesome is that I cannot have MRIs. The new Medtronic devices may allow for MRIs. Get the facts before you decide.
Hi @januaryjane, Can you provide a little more detail as to why a sacral stimulator has been recommended and what issue you are hoping to relieve?
I have a spinal cord stimulator. It worked somewhat well for the first year or two, but not so much anymore. It still helps a little though.
Temporary Medtronic stimulator worked good on back! Virus is stopping the permanent installment
I have a combo of diagnoses with ibs, slow transit constipation, and slow stomach. Ive been fighting this half my life, becoming disabled. Ive tried everything but this.
