How are you handling anxiety in this time of COVID-19?
I have health anxiety and I have noticed this coronavirus stuff makes it tons worse. I am constantly looking at the numbers

@evw100 I also have a hard time with people who "fail" social distancing. I'm getting better at gently reminding when moving away repeatedly doesn't work.
As to concern about Covid-19 on the mail, please consider the following:
First, the virus quickly becomes non-viable on paper or cardboard, so if you let it sit a day or two the risk is gone.
Second, the virus cannot move off the paper on its own like an insect, it is like a speck of dirt that must be transfered somehow. The way for the virus to infect you would be to touch a surface with viable virus, then touch your own eyes, nose or mouth.
Third, to be safe, just handle your mail without touching your face, dispose of it, then wash the surface it was on and wash your hands.
I searched all over, and cannot find any evidence of transdermal (through the skin) infection by Covid-19, so please don't let this be a huge source of anxiety.
Stay calm, stay safe.

@ew100 Welcome to connect I understand where you are coming from I was out today and most people where practicing social distancing but some who wanted to talk did the same thing I just ask them if they didn't mind I social distance as the rules asked . As far as getting groceries or deliveries when I get them I put on gloves and use a clorax wipe and clean them before putting them away . Do you think this might help you not to be so worried about catching the virus? I hope it does stay safe and 6 ft apart .
@hopeful33250 I was very dismayed last Friday, when a nurse practitioner I know met up with me. While she had a mask on [yeah!] she failed to maintain social distancing, and repeatedly kept "invading my space". I had to remind her to back off, which was met with some negative emotions. For the life of me I couldn't grasp why she felt opposed to following the guidelines. I will now severely limit any time spent near her.
Next Monday our little town will have a city council meeting, first since March. It is open to the public. Should be interesting to watch how everything is handled.
Ginger
Hi @gingerw. I see why you would be disappointed by an NP not maintaining social distancing. I would want to avoid her as well! It will be interesting to see how the city council meeting will be handled. Can you report back next week and let me know how it went?
Hi, I also have a generalized anxiety disorder ....every now and then it rears up....and this turn of events in such a short amount of time
Would take a toll on anyone...I just like others, try to stay away from the news channels....I just find it better if I am thinking about something nice to be doing, or occupying my time with....I have been killing time this morning by going over some of the really cool scenes that came with my iPhone 11 in the Clips app. Later my wife and I will get brave and go to the commissary....masks and gloves 🧤 and all that good stuff.. but it is hard to deal with sometimes. For me, I wake up mornings (with the fears), and until I get going I am well aware of my feeling of unease.....thanks for sharing
@hopeful33250 Yep, sure will! Apparently our governor has invited counties to submit an application to start phase 1 reopenings. Our zip code has had no cases, and the whole county [over 5000 sq miles] has 24 cases confirmed. Interesting days to come!
Ginger
No cases... wonderful!
Do not post your zip or you may have an increase! In population! 😉
@helenfrances Let's see, the mill closed down [people moving out if they can], there are no medical/dental services here [closest is an urgent care 23 miles away], no stoplight, few sidewalks, no motel, one small grocery mart, one closed bar, one Mexican restaurant doing take out 4 nights a week, less than 900 people in the valley. Probably won't see a rise in population.
All zip codes in Oregon are now listed with their COVID-19 cases listed.
Ginger
I counted at least 9 losses.
No one wants zip codes listed with # of COVID-19 cases.
I am treadmill walking now but will try to think of something positive.. neighbors, SOME relatives 🤭.
Want to join me in a gratitude list?
Ginger, I hear you.
Sorry I did not listen well.
I will do better tomorrow.
I re read my earlier response to you . It sounds
So matter of fact... cold.
