Visual Escapes and Daily Inspirations: Share Yours

Posted by John, Volunteer Mentor @johnbishop, Mar 16, 2020

Let's create a space to offer a daily reprieve.

The COVID-19 pandemic has brought a lot of uncertainty and fear into our lives. Some of that fear and uncertainty can be caused by over thinking what is going on or unnecessarily worrying. So, I'm making sure I wash my hands frequently, not touching my face, staying away from social gatherings and all of the recommended guidelines to help avoid getting or spreading COVID-19 but it can be a little boring. I try to not watch news all day long while I'm in this self imposed captivity. I like to take pictures of birds and other creatures from my window as a welcome break.

I invite you to join me in sharing pictures, favorite poems, sayings, mottos, funny moments. Let's take a daily break together.

Throwback Thursday photos -- My long time coffee buddy Jon T. who always chided me that his name was Jon spelled the right way passed away last year. While having coffee with him in his kitchen area and owl landed on his feeder in his backyard next to the window. It stayed for quite awhile and we both took pictures with our phones. The photo of the Robin was taken a few years ago with almost max zoom on my Canon SX50 HS camera. Hope all of you out there are having a good day!

@john, How nice to have this lovely owl photo to remind you of your longtime friend and the wonderful times together you shared. Looks like a very well fed robin, too!

My orchids. I have several orchids, sometimes they re bloom, sometimes they don't. The pink ones are a surprise to me. I don't feed them, if I remember, I'll water them. I have a friend who take meticulous care of her orchids and doesn't seem to get any better results. I think mine just feel sorry for me and decide to cheer me up.

Lovely orchids, neglected or not, @mayofeb2020

@sueinmn -- Nice photo! Cacti hold a special place in my heart and my rump as a kid 🙂 from crashing my bike into one big patch of them while racing with a friend.

@sueinmn - here's the bike (vintage 1950) I used when I tangled with the cactus plants going around a corner a couple of blocks from where this was taken in San Bernardino.

I thought it would be nice to share a rainbow, all things considered. The sign represents a landmark in my town, Jumpin Jack's. It's a throw back to 50's era of drive up eateries. Its seasonal and sad that it has missed it's long awaited annual end of March opening. Lines are normally out to the parking lot for burgers, fish and clam fries, etc... Yummm! It'll come, it'll come. 🌈
Be well,
Rachel
