Isolation: How Do We Handle it?
As boundaries are being mandated in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19, these boundaries are affecting every area of our lives. Many hospitals, assisted living facilities, places of worship, libraries, restaurants, community centers are being closed to visitors and public gatherings. For many of us, these keep us from our typical ways of connecting with others and engaging with a supportive community.
What are you doing to keep yourself connected?

@hopeful33250 I am becoming more comfortable with them. I make them out of T-shirt sleeves-no sewing, easy and quick. Also add a layer of mesh that I can remove and toss. What a relief to know that I am not imagining what I see!!! 🙂 Cyber hug and elbow bump.
@parus Cyber hug right back at you!! I really would like to know how you are creating masks out of the t-shirt sleeves. If it's not too complicated could you write out the directions? Thanks a bunch.
Here's a video showing how to make a face mask from a tee shirt.
@featherstep1 Thanks!
I take walks around the walk trails, work around the house, take movies and photos with my iPhone 11 (the camera app seems to own me), keep trying to stay away from political stuff, love to play and learn new songs or experiment with music theory with my electric rig, and watch my all time favorite sci-fi/horror thrillers.....and I try to stay positive.....
Thanks, that’s a very good video....very creative lady....I thought about that, minus the coffee filter, before our Grocery Store
Got a ton of the blue masks in (10 per box)...limit 2 per customer....was so surprised to see these...but a nice video nonetheless
I hate to admit this, but I would much rather be alone than with anyone else, except my dog and cat. I know that's not healthy and my therapist and I have talked about it several times. But, that's how it is ..... I just feel more comfortable and safer that way.

I understand completely how you feel. I feel much safer this way also. I have been alone a lot in my life and I think people get used to it. I am married and have children. They are all married, have their own families. My husband always used to go to work and sometimes be gone 12 hours a day. So, even if you are married, have children, it doesn't mean that mom isn't alone most of the time. Even when kids live at home, they are always busy, gone, etc., Maybe you are married, maybe not but I do love my dogs company! I talk to them as if they were people. I had a dog when I was young and I used to tell him all my problems. He was my therapist.
My husband has died . only one child, lives in another town, had to move and landlord will not let me have a pet, which I have had all my life. I am having panic attacks, no friends. I am very lonely
@wandajo Im so sorry to hear about you predicament . Im sorry about the passing of your husband . Do you have any relatives that you can contact ,brothers or sisters, do you have a good relationship with your son . Would he be able to help you out ? I moved from Pa to Ca so I could help my son and wife with there baby my grandson is now 12 ,has his own friends dont see them anymore but Im fortunate to live in a senior where I have friends here . Do you have any crafts you like to do ? I like art work and adult coloring books they are so relaxing to do . Are you settled in with a new Dr? If your not maybe you should look for one he may have some ideas to help you over the depression it maybe only at this moment and wont last . Do you get out and try to make new friends ,go to shops , . I too cant have pets here but now at my age it would be hard to take care of them. Here on connect we care and try to give people what helps us with same problems . Others will chime in here that may have other ideas . Keep coming back here so we can help you .
