Let’s Go Walking! Join me for a virtual walking support group
Many of you living with cancer or an autoimmune disease, like me, deal with daily fatigue. You know that exercise is so important to your health, but it’s so hard. There’s always an excuse: it’s too cold or hot, it’s going to rain or it’s raining, or it’s snowy and icy, or I just don’t want to. I, too, have all these excuses, but I have a new rescue dog who wants to go out and who doesn’t care about my excuses! And I’ve got traction devices for my boots. Now I just need a walking group who will keep me accountable. People who say, ‘let’s go for a walk.'
And I thought: What about my virtual friends on MayoClinicConnect?
Mayo Clinic has an easy 12-week walking program to get us started! Here’s the link:
- Get walking with this 12-week walking schedule https://newsnetwork.mayoclinic.org/discussion/get-walking-with-this-12-week-walking-schedule/
So let’s form a virtual walking group. We can agree to walk every day and encourage each other through Connect. We can walk outdoors, in a mall, or in the red center, or in the hallways of our apartment building.
Who’s in? Who’s going to join me?
Come on, Let’s Go Walking!

@jude07, Oh, Jude, your post is just the laugh i so badly needed this morning!! Wish I were as witty as you because I think we may share some of the same DNA!!! " I am missing my social time and have spent so much time in my flower beds that I'm afraid that I may be talking to them and don't even don't it." Even worse, I stop to listen for their answers!!! Also, my early morning walks are my best "sanity restorer" for the day.
@fiesty76
Amen to that. I don’t understand the thinking of the anti maskers either.

@imallears, Hi, FL Mary, Sadly, the joke scares me to death! Your gov and mine are two of the current administration's favorites. While I was searching the internet to order pea shooters in the event TX would be named the state for the Rep. Nat'l Convention, I read that FL was the newly chosen victor or victim depending upon one's viewpoint. Happy to hear that you and yours are taking precautions and continue to hope that our Mayor will reimpose some restrictions. Anything to attribute for your increasing energy? If you have some extra, will you cyber mail me some? Smiles
@jocelynk I never saw those birds before They are nice to look at I can imagine the wing span on one of those birds . Babies are cute . I once saw a Blue Heron while my son and I where in a boat rowing down a river they are beautiful birds . Wonder if they are related as they look very similar.
LOL mine is up and down . Today my back is hurting so think it is a stay in day for awhile but if I find some extra I will send by fairy dust may get there sooner ?
@fiesty76 I like those birds and now I know what they are . I saw some in Pa. Where I use to live they would come to my feeder never know what they where or at my age forgot .lol Thanks for looking up for me . How are you doing today just use you own common sense where this virus is concerned wear mask and social distancing I think is the answer . A friend that lives in Houston say how many cases they have in the Houston area . I have a friend that lives in Fort ? something around San Antonio haven't heard from her in awhile so will have to email her . You take care my friend .
@imallers . That's all you need now ,hurricanes on top of this pandemic. With us in Calif. its fires and/or floods . Wherever in country always some kind of disaster . In the last few days there has been a couple of 6.5-7 earthquakes . I don't understand people who don't listen either but do as you know is best and good for that library . My insurance Humana sent me out 2 mask yesterday . They are nice .
@lioness. I'm very worried. CA, FL and Texas top the US in most cases now. Is it because we are opening up too early? Our city of 280k people had 10 new cases overnight.
@mayofeb2020 I'm an too. I think Calif did open up to soon . I listen to the Gov everyday at noon and now he is pleading with people to wear mask but the defiant ones won't and they are the ones spreading it . We had a lady here who went around cleaning for people sometimes she wore and mask and other times she didn't now she has the virus and pneumonia . A friend said she sounds very week as she is home here not in the hospital where she should be . I don't know if its financially she couldn't stay or what but I take extra precautions when I walk here even spraying the soles of my shoes when I come in . What's going to happen when the flue come next winter that's what scares me also . Stay in stay safe .

Hi,
Jacksonville was chosen, way way up north from me. I think my energy generally comes from proper eating and sleep, of course, and the daily walk. I drink matcha powder tea before my gym class and that goes a long way because of the caffeine.
I notice on nights that I sleep well that I have more energy the next day but I was indulging in too many complex carbs the last few weeks and that contributes to lower energy for me.
So I went to 2 stores this morning after the walk and after the bank. More people than not were wearing masks but in Target I noticed 2 different woman without...one middle age and one a little younger. Some smaller business state “No mask No entry”
Hope to see more of that. We won’t close in this state but businesses will suffer because of the spike. My beauty salon just sent out an email that masks are now required or they won’t be served. Last time maybe half the customers had masks. I use a disposable one when she is putting color on my oh so gray roots.
So let’s just keep moving and hoping for the best.
