Is Virtual Colonoscopy Available Mayo Clinic AZ to Evaluate Cecum?

Posted by bisbee @bisbee, Feb 17, 2020

Have 2 recent CT scans with contrast indicating either a swelling or inflammation at my cecum. Have read that many colonoscopies procedures cannot reach the cecum for good evaluation, same with barium enema.

Is it possible to have a virtual colonoscopy at Mayo Clinic AZ? I have read it is the best option to determine problem with cecum area.

Virtual colonoscopy, known more formally as computerized tomographic CT colonography, is offered at all 3 Mayo Clinic locations. The virtual colonoscopy uses advanced imaging software to produce a three-dimensional view of the entire colon and rectum. I have had 2 CT scans here in Mexico and they both mention issues with the cecum. The reports are in Spanish. I have applied to get an appt. with Mayo Clinic in AZ but have not heard back.
