Hashimoto's and B6 toxicity

Posted by campergirl411 @campergirl411, Jan 29, 2020

Recently diagnosed with Hashimoto and a B6 toxicity. Chronic hives and numbness/tingling in both hands and feet and legs. Started on a gluten free diet which has helped the hives somewhat but wondering how others are dealing with the B6 toxicity? Neurologist has suggested Mediterranean diet and stopping all supplements also drinking plenty of water daily. Any and all advice appreciated as to how others are coping.

When I first started my journey trying to figure out what would help my diagnosis of idiopathic small fiber peripheral neuropathy symptoms of numbness I was intrigued with a book I found by Dr. Terry Wahls - The Wahls Protocol. It was what started me on understanding that basic nutrition plays an important part of our health and got me on the road to eating healthier. Were you able to find out what was causing your B6 toxicity?

Thank you for the reply. If moving the post would help generate more info I’d appreciate that. As far as the B6 toxicity I had and MRI of the brain and neck and an EMG all came out normal. Neurologist ruled it was due to supplements and advised to immediately stop taking them. With change of diet and off the supplements he thinks it should take a few months to feel better. Toxic levels came back 2x higher than a normal reading.

I have autoimmune thyroid issues and vitamin B issues also, have you had your homocysteine checked. My b6 was high normal without supplements, but I'm actually deficient B6 B3, I did try supplementing just very small amounts wrong I did have a niacin flush now my liver enzymes are up a little but since stopped. My doctor did have me do a genvoa nateval test so I could get the whole picture. I'm wondering dose B6 toxicity cause liver enzymes to go up.

Oh my this sounds like me even though I had previously been vit b 12 deficient ( if doing supplement shots) 3 years later without taking vit b my levels r crazy high

A lot of these posts sound like my experiences with low B12 levels, PN, etc.; I had genetic testing done by my Cardiologist and it found that I have a MTHFR genetic mutation. It can cause PN, depression, and many medical conditions. It might be worth checking into.
