How the cold/flu are affecting me now, as opposed to my pre-TBI day.

I have one or the other or both. How do you all cope with being more clumsy, more foggy, with a temperature that’s not real high. Non-productive cough is what really scares me. I broke a rib last year coughing like that. Can’t read, hard to follow movies, and making myself some Toast is taking forever. I’ll just stay in bed and try to not emit so much steam,

Hi @mugglemary, sorry to hear you're down and out with a cold or flu. @hevykevy @icydecember @littlepitzen @mikemangan @mkgarrity might have some thoughts to add about coping with the fogginess of illness coupled with TBI.

Mary, staying in bed and getting rest sounds like a wise plan. Remember to drink plenty of fluids too. That will help with the coughing. I make myself a thermos of tea to keep by my bed. I have a concoction of ginger, honey and lemon in boiling water that I like to sip all day long when I have a cold or flu. I also have a microwaveable heating bag that I put on my chest or anywhere I'm feeling cold. What helps you?

I’m staying in bed and drinking liquids. Once in a while I put on my boots and carefully push the snow off my deck. I’m telling myself this isn’t a step backward, but a pause.

I have been so fortunate in this area, since the accident, I have not been sick once. I think that because my body is concentrating on healing, it has my immune system on high alert also. Another factor, now that I am retired, I no longer have to touch the keyboards of co-workers who are "no longer contagious.
I do have one bit of advice, It may sound crazy, coat your feet with Vicks Vapo-Rub then put on a pair of socks before you go to bed at night. Don't knock it till you've tried it, it works for any cold symptoms.

I concur with Kevin that our immune system must be in high alert since I also have not been sick once either since my accident. The foot Vicks thing I've never heard of...sounds fun and worth trying. Thanks!

I’m startled that I haven’t got any Vick’s in house!

I tried the Vick’s on the feet, and I’m not sure if it helped but my feet stayed cooler and I think I slept better. Might do the trick. Thanks, hevykevy!

Looking back on this, I think what I was describing was CV19.
