Peripheral nerve stimulators

Posted by sparshall @sparshall, Jan 14, 2020

This is a long shot, but I’m looking for people who have used implanted peripheral nerve stimulators (PNS) to control nerve pain. They block the pain signal to the brain. Stimrouter and Stimwave are major brands. These are NOT the same thing as spinal cord stimulators, of which there are many brands. I’m about to have a Stimwave implanted to block intractable pelvic and leg nerve pain.

@jesfactsmon @rwinney @artscaping @lioness and all my Fellow Neuropathy Warriors; Thanks so much for your kind thoughts and support. You guys are just the best. Still weak and hurting here, but better than yesterday. However, I still need the damn Kratom for my feet. Please pray that this DRG works. How ludicrous, if it did not. Sometimes, the gift of time is needed. I hope everyone is coping ok with their pain today. What a battle we fight!!! Love to all, Lori Renee

@lorirenee1, Good morning. I am here for you. Let your fellow warriors know how the DRG adapts to your body and learns to be helpful for you. Are you sleeping well?

May you be free of suffering.

@artscaping @lioness Hi Chris and Linda, You said things that resonated with me, because I am impatient for the DRG to work. You said "adopting," and "adjusting;" that my body has to adopt to the DRG inside me. This is true. It is why the ABBOTT people do not do as many adjustments to the foot ipad at first. I feel a subtle improvement in my feet today. Tiny, but better. I actually think I need less electricity running through the wiring, but that will be discussed with my doc and the ABBOTT folks. Anyway, best of all is how kind you guys are. You literally made my morning, seeing you guys here, talking to me. May you have a decent morning that you can manage to cope with!!!!! Love to you. Love to you. Love to you. Lori Renee

I'm certainly glad that you feel even a small improvement today. I know how much it helps me to have a day with even a little less pain. It's encouraging. Are you beginning to recover from the surgery? I'm going to be following you, to learn what I should anticipate if I find that I need to have a DRG, and as others have said, my prayers are with you

Hi Lori, I just posted a sort of melancholy dirge over on the other discussion just now, and then I read this post of yours and remembered how much hope I feel for you and your drg implant. I am so hopeful for you and for a positive outcome. I am glad you are experiencing some subtle changes today (or yesterday I guess now). You are a sweetheart and deserve some relief! Hang it there kiddo, and we will keep our ears perked for any words from you of success for this thing. Best, Hank

@jesfactsmon @jimhd and of course, to all MY NEUROPATHY FRIENDS!!!! Once again, thanks for your kind words. Just want to report a bit of a change in the feet today. Yesterday, my ABBOTT guardian angel lowered the electricity to my toes, and it is definitely an improvement. I still think it will need to be lowered more, but I do think my ABBOTT lady did the right thing. Senses are such strange things!!!! I almost feel like there is an "under current" of pain, just below the surface of my senses and my feet! So hard to describe. But an improvement in pain level, for sure! The ABBOTT lady says it's a very inexact Science, and they keep adjusting more and less electricity till they get it right. One thing I have learned, is that having the right ABBOTT rep is quite important. The young lady that helps me is so calm and encouraging. She just stays with me on the phone and her ability to visualize where I am on my Ipad for my feet astounds me. She does not have the ipad in front of herself, but just guides me. She is never distracted for a second. Very talented lady. So yes, I do see improvement today. I hope it gets better because this sense of undercurrent is unpleasant, and the pain is lowered, but not low enough. However, much better than yesterday. Hope this report helps you guys!!! Love to you all. Lori Renee

Just saw this. Wow, very good report Lori. Sounds like you have the right Abbott person. If you did want her to be able to see your ipad screen maybe you could do Facetime or Google Duo or some other video sharing to allow you to show her your screen as you two work together. Just an idea, if useful. But even as is she sounds sharp enough that it works in any case. Will await your further progress. Best to you, Hank

@rwinney Hi, Rachel. I had never had daylillies in my garden until we moved here. By now they're all over the place. I went to Lowe's on Monday for a couple of things in the lumber department, and out of habit parked by the nursery, opposite ends of the store. I found a pink daylily and had to buy it because I didn't have one that color. I nearly always overspend my budget in nurseries. And I actually planted it the very next day! Procrastinating is my middle name, even when it comes to planting things. It can be hard to decide where to put the plants I drag home.

I still need to look at the tool for dividing that you mentioned, Sue @sueinmn Maybe I'll put it on my birthday wish list, so my wife will have at least one thing to give me. We're so hard to get presents for each other.

Thanks, Rachel, for showing us the beautiful flower.

Jim
