Reverse shoulder replacement 4 months out - severe pinch pain

Posted by mayoclinic4sale @mayoclinic4sale, Dec 28, 2019

Yesterday I must have overworkded my shoulder, as late in the day I was experiencing severe pinching pain near the pectoral muscle. Iced ,took advil and went to bed. Woke up to the same pain. I can move, but the pain is bad. Xrays? Possible tear?

Good morning @mayoclinic4sale ,

Oops.....that is unfortunate.. What were you doing when the pain started? Or when do you think the pain started. Some times it just happens. I have had similar incidents over the 10 years of living my life with a reverse shoulder. I was warned by my surgeon....”don’t fall, I can’t fix you”. Most of my incidents are from overdoing it.....with my weights while working out until I reduced the weight......lifting too much just helping around the house.

Do you have a patient portal that enables you to communicate with your surgeon? That might be a start.

Is this soft tissue pain? For me, that took more than overnight to recover, probably 3 or 4 days of gentle treatment.

Have you tried heat or cold? How long have you had the reverse replacement?
Bottom line.....be safe and protected. Chris

Thank you for your input. Have been icing and I am on anti inflammatory drugs. Have message into surgeon and primary care physician. Hoping I only over worked it. Perhaps broke up some scar tissue. Obviously worried. Again, thank you.

@mayoclinic4sale, It has been 6 days and I am thinking about you and wondering if you have been able to talk to your clinicians. I hope so. If so, would you be comfortable sharing what you learned and what was recommended so that other members can benefit from your experience?

I will let you know that my most recent "oops" is fine today. So it took 4 or 5 days for the soreness to dissipate. I did yoga this morning but no push-ups. Be free of suffering. Chris

So I continued to ice and rest, and the pain subsided in a few days. Spoke to Surgeons office and they of course said come in if the pain continues. They did also mention, unless I fell, I was probably going to be ok. Started my workout routine yesterday and my shoulder feels pretty good this morning. Thanks for thinking of me!
