Ok I'm not an addict I've been taking lyrica 200mg 3 times a day for about 2 years now. I came to Algeria just over a month ago and now have decided to extend my stay but I'm almost out of lyrica and I can't find an alternative to take while I'm here can anyone help please

They don’t have it under a different name? I know Bangladesh has it but it’s called something else.
If they don’t have that at all then the only suggestion I can think of is gabapentin, but I’m NO MD!!!
It’s just what I’m thinking when I was in Bangladesh.
Or u can check with the pharmacist their, they should be able to help

Try to see if you can get Gabapentin. It works similarly to Lyrica. Good luck. Lori R.

I was just taken off of Lyrica and put on Pregabalin which is the generic form of Lyrica, there is also a patch that you use to relieve the pain, I don't remember the name right now, but I would be glad to look it up for you. I understand what the Pain is like. Hope to speak to you soon Inspired

I have been put on gabapentine, because I couldn't afford Lyrica. It just doesn't work as well as Lyrica. I checked on Lyrics generic with my doctor when it came out in the summer. It is also very expensive through my insurance. I'm a senior. Does anyone know how to get Lyrics generic affordable??

Go to their internet site to see if the company itself will help you.

If your insurance cost for generic Lyrica is too high, you might want to try Good Rx or one of the other discount drug sites. I recently checked the price of Pregabalin which is the generic for Lyrica and the Good Rx price in my area was about $26 for 90 capsules and about $20 for 60 capsules of the 50 mg dose. I hope this helps you.

I know this reply is over a year since you asked - but I was facing the same problem and I went to the Lyrica website and they had a coupon that - while not all people can use the coupon - I was able to, and it reduced my cost by over $300 dollars!

The pharmacist told me it may not be that much next time since this is the first time I used the coupon but I was STUNNED.

My cost with wonderful Humana was $374 for a three-month supply. After the pharmacist put in the coupon number, he said my cost was $12.00...TWELVE DOLLARS!

It can't possibly stay that cheap. I use Good RX, and if I used Good RX on branded Lyrica, it was a little over $500...but like the other person said the cost of generic Lyrica with Good RX, is around $26. I tried the generic twice and it wipes me out and I feel like a zombie. So I decided to cut some things out of my budget to pay for my Lyrica. And, my doctor writes the script with the Lyrica as medically necessary. It's a crime what Humana does to its clients. We pay them, they are supposed to be working for us! But I digress...

Hello @calliefla, Welcome to Connect, an online community where patients and caregivers share their experiences, find support and exchange information with others. It sounds like Lyrica helps you better than the generic version of the drug. The cost of some prescriptions can be a problem for many people and causes a real burden on them.

Are you able to share a little more about your diagnosis and any medications you've tried?

I have successfully been prescribed brand Lyrica 150 x2 during day & brand Lyrica 200 x1 at night. I have been taking it since 2005; 18 years. Brand Lyrica is no longer available here. I tried pregabalin (generic)and had allergic reaction.
Prior to 2005 I had been prescribed gabapentin with very bad side effects. Cymbalta, too, was problematic and ineffectual. Can’t do CBD/marijuana.
How to mitigate withdrawal? What to substitute?

Hello @tos and welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect. I found an existing discussion where members are no longer taking Lyrica and discussing withdrawal, so you will notice I have moved your post here:
- Can't get lyrica don't want withdrawal help: https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/cant-get-lyrica-dont-want-withdrawal-help/

Have you been offered any recommendations from your doctor given all of the complications?
