Meet others living with autism: Come say hi
Welcome to the Autism group on Mayo Clinic Connect.
Living with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) may have many aspects in common with neurotypicals, but also some uniquenesses. Whether you are someone diagnosed with ASD, or are living with or caring for someone with ASD, let’s connect.
I’m Lisa, and I am the moderator of this group. I look forward to hearing about the lens through which you look at life, your experiences, and what comes easily to you and what presents difficulties. Perhaps you or your loved one has been misunderstood or even mistreated by others, or maybe you have heightened senses that bring you much joy. Whatever your story, I encourage you to share it openly and frankly, and also provide compassion and a place of safety for others touched by autism.
I’d love to welcome you and introduce you to other members. Feel free to browse the topics or start a new one.
Have a seat in a comfy chair, grab a cup of coffee or a beverage you like, and let’s chat. Why not start by introducing yourself?

@lioness and @gingerw .....
We girls can do anything we put our minds to. Whether we live in Pennsylvania, Washington state, or Alabama, we can do it!
Just like Rosie the Riveter, Shirley Temple, and Betsy Ross, we do what we have to.
I have a printed out piece of paper attached to my bathroom mirror.
It reads:
"You can do anthing."
Yes. You can.
Love and light,
Mamacita Jane
@teresa, Volunteer Mentor
Thank you for those birthday wishes!!!
Sixty-eight feels really good on me.
Now if I could just snap my fingers and lose this last fifty pounds.
It's so hard using portion control and eating all the right things. Everyone has that cross to bear, so I know I shouldn't complain.
Husband just gave me a bite of his burger. Oh man. My one consolation is this:
There won't be any such thing as calories in the Great Beyond.
Heh, heh.
Love and light,
Mamacita Jane
@mamacita We have a park and statue of Rosie the Riveter out here
you 2 ladies would run a ring around your president Trump and republican party .Because women are seen and not heard and are only chattel and owned by the republican male
@sirgalahad We would be two of many!
Ginger
Oh @lioness I would love to see thst in person!!!
Love and light,
Mamacita Jane
@gingerw, @sirgalahad , wouldnt it be lovely if one of us ( our friends on the Spectrum) actually became a member of the House, or Senate?
We are everywhere and we are doing some really great things in our little corner of the world
Maybe we should be researching this idea. As we advocate we can make small dents in the crazy world around us.
Who's with me?!!
Love and light,
Mamacita Jane
@auntieoakley - thinking of you today and wondering how you are doing?
@auntieoakley , I miss you! What are you up to these days? What books are you reading? I hope that you are well and taking time for yourself. It's been a hard lesson for me to learn. I was raised in an era where you worked hard six days a week. The only real rest we got back then was on church day.
I am retired and should be slowing downI suppose. But that is not my nature.
Happy Valentine's Day my friend!
Lots of love,
Mamacita Jane
Thank you for thinking of me. Happy Valentine’s Day to you all. I am very busy with multiple cancer patients in the family, one entering hospice over the last 4 days. Hoping for some serious down and quiet time soon.
