“Missed” beats with digestion issues, particularly bloated stomach.
I’m interested in knowing if anyone else has experienced “missed” beats while suffering problems with digestion, particularly while having a bloated stomach. Gastroenterologist thinks it may be an affected vagus nerve.

Yes, I've experienced this. Never asked about it though. I have lots of g.i. problems and a diagnosed arrythmia. But I do get the odd skipped beat and/or flutter when my acid reflux is bad.
Thanks for responding Sue. Would you mind telling me what your digestion issues are, besides the reflux.
@eden I have celiac disease. I have an irritable bowel (IBS-C) and acid reflux. For the last year, I have had lots of g.i. issues (bloating, severe constipation). I think that my existing problems have been made worse by one of the three meds I'm on. But that connection between GERD and skipped beats I noticed ages ago.
Thanks Sue. I sympathise with celiac patients, as I have experience with the companion disease, Crohns. Can I suggest a book you should read? It’s - Breaking the Vicious Cycle, by Elaine Gottschall. It’s the source book of the Specific Carbohydrate Diet. A game changer in the treatment if IBD. Allowed me to be meds free for 13 years.
@eden I'd forgotten about the Gotschall book...might be worth a look at again. My meds are for osteoporosis, heart issue, and diet resistant familial high cholesterol. From no drugs to three meds in less than three years. I always joke that if I was a car, my g.i. system would have been replaced.
Are you on Omeprazole Sue?
@eden bit of a difficult patient to treat. 65 now and all these problems have been around forever. I began allergic to ppi's and h2 blockers. Itching, rash...long story...saw allergist. Only use Gaviscon and other Maalox like antacids when required. I am a bit of a problem patient!
I thought I was the only one. I have a noticeable skipped beats often and swelling right to the left of breastbone. Along with constant reflux and burping Stomach pains as well. Pencil like at time. I have had all heart tests done last year and they say no issues even though I have left chest pain. Could this be reflux or stomach related as well ? Nice to see I’m not alone.
Hello Jadilow, My understanding is that heart pain moves. It doesn't stay in one spot. It moves and that can be around the chest, and sometimes up an arm, through to the back, up into the neck etc.. Muscle pain can be sharp and in one spot. Try some moves that move the chest muscles around and breathe in and out deeply. It can cause sharp, localized pain when you stretch chest muscles.
I think you would know if you have reflux. It really feels 'digestive' and burns. Baking soda really helps. If you take it, any reflux should calm right down so that should tell you if it is reflux. Tums is okay too because it's just calcium. If you have Xantac, take it back to the pharmacy. They've discovered it's carcinogenic and it's been taken off the market.
I do have arm pains also. Upper arm
