Night Sweats for no reason
I am 66 years of age. For the last 10 months I have had ‘all over body’ severe drenching night sweats. I am assuming I am past menopause, and I never had night sweats during menopause. I did bring this up with my personal doctor about five months ago. She didn’t think it was anything troubling, just an annoyance. It is definitely more than just an annoyance. Changing night clothes twice a night; climbing into wet sheets (can’t change those with hubby sleeping in bed); then freezing after changing clothing; by now I’m wide awake but try to go back to sleep-hoping I’m not in for another round. Please-any thoughts?

@lisalucier I had someone very close to me deal with night sweats: my mother. In her case, it was (although we didn't yet know) the first symptom of Non-Hodgkins lymphoma.
How did they test for that?
@cocodab I hear this and always ask about recent thyroid levels check. This was what caused mine even though my levels were within normal range. I was also aware of night sweats being a sign of cancer-enough to give me night and day sweats. Turns out it was the TSH levels-one size does not always fit all.
Oh just read all above a bit slow today. Thank you so much for all the suggestions. Blood test will hopefully clear much, Friday is coming. Night sweats is knew and I have had chills and have been very cold until now.
Sorry about the mistakes I talk into the phone and should correct before pressing post., New not knew. It has actually made big funny mistakes I should know better.
Based on sprocket's description, it sounds like she is having drenching night sweats. There are a number of different things that could be causing them (see link below), but I wouldn't ignore it. Her post caught my eye because it's a symptom of CLL, which I have. Chances are, that's not the cause, but having a CBC can rule it out and many some of the other causes.

Wow sorry to hear this so difficult and just one more thing. So frustrating 😨
Thank you quite the list!
I too have night sweats. I’m 41 years old, all of my blood tests come back normal. It’s been going on for years and even though my primary is aware of it (so is my gyn), I don’t have any answers. Is this something I’m just going to have to deal with forever or should I push for other tests? CLL runs in my family but I would “assume” I would have other symptoms by now. Thank you in advance if anyone reads this.
(Btw it can’t be my medication since it’s happened when I’ve been off of them.)
I had night sweats out of the blue (or red) 20 years after I had a hysterectomy. My doctor put me through a round of tests for every living thing, including Carcinoid Syndrome, and nothing showed up. I take .25 mg. of Estradiol every evening and they’re gone, hallelujah. My endocrinologist says it also builds bones; I’m just happy to be able to be flash-free all day and sleep all night. 🙂
