Stuck: Lost All Ambition
I am in my 60's and I have had depression most of my life. However, I retired 2 years ago and it has not gone well. I have seen a couple different psychologist and I am taking anti-depressants. I do get better for awhile but it does not last. I have worked to make new contacts since retirement and I have stayed physically active but at the moment I have lost all ambition and it is hard work to do things I know I need to do to get better such as getting out of myself and doing something productive or fun. Please tell me what has worked for you.

Thanks for letter above. Generally from my own perspective, psychiatrist tend to advise you to stay on bipolar medications indefinitely. I wonder if this the correct approach. I, for one, have on these drugs for a long time. Currently I am on lamotor 200mg and quetiapine 100mg. I am on these after negotiated with the doctor to drop bromezpam and another whose name has escaped my memory. I've on the current treatment regiment for over 5 years and am considering weaning myself from them.
I need on the best strategy to wean myself successfully.

Very useful tips, thank you all.
Would anyone have share experiences with lamotrigie and quetiapine
I have been taking 150 mg lamotrigine (along with others meds for depression/anxiety) for several years. I have nothing negative to report. It was added to tweak my meds and I believe it has helped.
