Use of CBD for intestinal issues such as IBS

Posted by virginia44 @virginia44, Oct 20, 2019

Has anyone tried using CBD (oil or other form) to relieve symptoms of IBS, diarrhea, cramps, etc.? If so, did it help or hurt? Did it help sleep and/or pain levels?

I am also interested in this subject. I asked a nutritionist about it and she said she didn’t have much information but had heard of some success with using CBD for IBS. She did email me an article about it but I don’t know if I still have it. Her suggestion was to try it if I wanted to but to buy it from a source that is reliable and has dosage information. I never have. I tried a topical CBD ointment that my husband bought from a place that his friend buys from for my arthritis. It didn’t help at all. If I were you I would start by googling the subject.

Yes, I have googled it and read what I can find. I'm curious because a friend who had knee replacement starting using it at her doctors' recommendation. The doc did not prescribe it, as the FDA has not yet approved it, because of lack of data. But my friend bought it and used it and it was the solution to a LOT of pain and swelling. I'm thinking of trying it for colon issues, and I'm just curious about others' experiences. I have other family members who have used it for joint and muscle issues and it worked great.

@blmd5861 Your post could be very helpful to members who are suffering from neuropathy. You might want to post it there, or I could get our moderator to repost it there.
Thank you.

I just tried some CBD cream on my belly. It felt good and gave me some relief, but it was not long lasting.

My husband uses CBD oil under his tongue at night and he has no neuropathy pain! He has diabetes and the neuropathy pain used to keep him awake at night.
