Pernicious Anemia and B12 Ranges

DEAR JOHN i AM LOW IN WBC, RBC,HGB, HCT, PLAT, ANC, GRAN# AND LYMPH#, Sometimes a B12 shot, one time an infusion of ferretin. It is watched monthly. I do trust this doctor. An opthamologist told me that this is one of the reasons I am legally blind and losing more sight as time goes bye.

<p>pernicious anemia</p><p>I have a question. If a CBC and hemoglobin all show normal readings can someone still have pernicious anemia? My Dad was diagnosed with it in his 50's and received monthly B12 injections. I am showing symptoms of it but just had a CBC done and everything was normal.</p>

You said that you were showing symptoms. May I ask what kind of symptoms you are experiencing?

You mentioned that your dad had pernicious anemia. Are your symptoms similar to his?

Shingles last January which lasted 7 weeks. Then Silent Reflux in March. Due to covid doctor told me to take prevacid which i did for 4 months. Now every 2 months or less an episode of distention 1-3 hours after dinner with very severe stomach pain which lasts until I take Pepto Bismol and then it so far has immediately stopped the pain. Last time i vomited. Have insomnia, on occasion restless legs, tongue feels burned at times, canker sores, occasional heart palpitations, episode of breathlessness a couple of weeks ago. Father had pernicious anemia and got monthly injections. Mother had Crohn's. Thank you for signing me up an getting me information.

You have had numerous health issues. I can understand your wanting to find some answers

What type of specialists have you seen? With the wide variety of health problems, have you considered seeking a second opinion at a multi-disciplinary health facility like Mayo Clinic or a university medical school? These types of facilities have ongoing research and are better than average at diagnosing and treating hard-to-treat problems.

@loisnovell Hello. @erikas suggested that I be in touch with you about pernicious anemia. I really don’t know about pernicious anemia, but I did learn what to do when you have multiple different symptoms and nothing seems to make sense. Like @hopeful33250 suggests, going to a university medical center or some place like Mayo Clinic can make all the difference. My autoimmune disease is so new that no one here knew anything about it, so we went to the university hospital. They had a doctor who specialized in neuro-immunology!
Are you anywhere near a large hospital or university?

Thank you for your response. I am not unfortunately near a large hospital or university. I have made the trip from out of state to the Mayo clinic in Rochester before for surgery. It's a wonderful place. I do have an appointment now for a local physical although I couldn't get in for a few months but hopefully that will give me some answers. Thank you for your information.

I have traveled from out of state to the Mayo clinic in the past for surgery. It's a wonderful place. Unfortunately with the travel involved and the covid that isn't an option for me at this time.
