What is your anxiety like?
Hello y'all,
I have dealt with with anxiety for most of my life but have finally this year been diagnosed with GAD and panic disorder. Now that I have gotten the help I need I have been feeling so much better day to day, but sometimes when life gets tough it flares up again. One thing that I have experienced for years does not sound like the typical anxiety symptoms. I often get this sort of "brain fog" where I will have a hard time thinking, will seem very out of it, I will even slur my speech, and normally it comes toward the end of the day and I am fine the next day. I also get this weird thing where my eyes will feel dried out and sensitive, and I will blink a lot. It doesn't worry me as bad as it used to because I attribute it to my anxiety flare ups, but I was wondering if anyone else experiences anything like this, and if they have any methods to alleviate it.
Thanks!

@annieb0188 Would you tell me more about, "pushing everything down because I have to talk about my feelings?"
@kimcvi
Hi Kim, it's great to hear from you again. That is really good news that you have the milder form of MC, Thomsens. I am so sorry to hear that your symptoms are still progressing though. Can you explain in what way they are progressing? Do you mean the anxiety symptoms or the actual physical MC symptoms?
You had mentioned earlier that you wanted to connect with other people who have MC. Any luck so far on that?
Can you elaborate on why you are frustrated by the messaging with the Mayo doctor? Would you be able to have a video meeting with him? Would he do that?
What are your plans at this point? Can you flesh out a lot of what is happening and what you are going through right now? It might help if you could give some more details.
Please try to answer each question one by one if you can. Maybe I or someone else can think of some input that might help.
Again, I am glad to hear from you. I am sad you are still having some issues with what is going on right now.
All my best, Hank
Have you ever taken medicine? How about therapy? We need more info. Thanks.

@annieb0188 You will notice that I have moved your post to this existing discussion on anxiety.

I did this so you can connect with other members already discussing this topic.
@annieb0188 I saw in a previous post that you see a provider.
Does this provider manage medication or do you learn coping skills and strategies for anxiety as well?
@annieb0188
Hi Annie, I read your other 2 posts where you mention having difficulty discussing yourself and your problem of ocd, anxiety and panic attacks. I see you joined this Mayo Connect forum back in April but have not utilized it much for communicating with others. I would like to see you attempt to open up more here. This is one place where you can talk about yourself. For one thing, no one knows who you are here so you have anonymity. For another, people here do truly understand pain and suffering and difficulties of all different kinds. Most people here (virtually all in my experience) are sympathetic and compassionate, and are going through difficulties of their own, so no one is here to judge you or put you down. I'd advise you to make more use of this for yourself. You might find you'll get some useful ideas or advice.
I for one would very much like to hear you tell your story, start from whenever your issues started (20 years ago you said) and describe what life has been and is like for you, what you have done about it and any other relevant details, the more the merrier. Pour it out, make a start (anywhere) and know that we are here for you! Best, Hank
