Otter Live Captions Application - Does It Work Well?

Posted by mmyatt01757 @mmyatt01757, Jul 14, 2019

I want to try Otter live captions application on my iPhone for a public meeting - town Board of Selectmen. It 'listens' to the room and types the words. It is similar to CaptionCall or Captel telephones, but it is listening to the room. Does anyone have experience with Otter? If it works adequately (90% accuracy?) I would need to project my iPhone screen onto a larger screen for hard-of-hearing people to read. Any ideas? Thank you in advance.

Thing is there is a big difference I think between the free capacity and prwminum. Trying to contract the company for input and all. Unlike InnoCaption, there is no access

Otter does not support phone call captioning. So, different product. Now I am focussing on Otter and won't pay for it until the town does. but I hope they do. Still looking for advice on connecting iPhone to projecter. Amazon has Apple products - decent reviews. Non - Apple - terrible reviews. Will probably go to Best Buy. someone suggested what to Google and I don;t see that post anymore. Where did it go?

InnoCaption- phone captioning- awesome- listens/ wants feedback

Otter is for meetings/ cafe get together - so far I cannot get in contract with them- sounds like it may help in chapter meetings though
They have a free version - I used yesterday with 6 folks in a cafe. Did well except screen went off
Premium version- no one I know is using that

They gave devices to project on to screen
Laptop connected to iPhone can project onto white wall or screen
Oh wow I thought of something- it would be appalling if everyone be looking at their phone to better hear the meeting - geez

that is disappointing. the free version i have used is only 10% accurate, if even that. it does not work with multiple speakers. it may get the first couple sentences OK, but then goes off the rails afterwards. in an extremely quiet room with one speaker using a microphone, it can help, but ...
i would rather they provide the premium version first for a trial, as i will not pay a penny for the current free version.
i hope they can improve, but so far, it has been very disappointing.

Free version did reasonably well at a cafe with 6 people- higher level of accuracy than yours time( larger meeting I take it) weird that I cannot contract them. I wish they had an inno caption state of mind ( great closed captioning for the Phone - very receptive when informed of issues) otter does not have a way for me to reach them-
