I begged to get off cyclosporine for years cause it was destroying my kidneys. Told "oh no" for years !!! Guess what stopped cyclosporine 4 yrs ago and no rejection. I was once told by a very famous Dr. " You dont need immunosuppressats after 10 yrs post transplant, but the drugs make Drs and drug companies alot of money! Keeping us in the dark.

I received a liver and a kidney transplant in 2009. I take both cellcept and tacrolimus and I accept that I will need them for life, unless/until scientific research proves otherwise. I follow a routine lab schedule, and when my labs show abnormal ranges, my dosages are adjusted.

I have only read of identical twins (living kidney donation) not requiring immunosuppressant meds.
@bosco17, What organ did you transplant? Was it from a closely related individual? Would you please share with us where you found this information?
