Hi. I had R-CHOP every 3 weeks back in 2015 for very advanced DLBCL, which is a Non-hodkins Lymphoma. Mine had settle pretty much everywhere in my bones, but not touched any organs. I didn't need any radiotherapy, which I was very pleased about. I was 66 at the time. I am now 4.5 years in remission. The only thing that got from my chemo was peripheral neuropathy in both my feet, which has not gone away. For me, it is debilitating, although not painful. It feels like I am earing socks with superglue in them. Weird. Your Oncology nurse will mention peripheral Neuropathy to you, I am sure. Discuss it at length. See what can be done to avoid it. Not all patients get it. Worth talking about it with the doctor as well. Best of luck. Treatments for NHL today is very successful.

Hi Chuck,

I had rituximab and bendamustine, and many other chemotherapy infusions for initially stage 4b hodgkin's lymphoma. Lots of fatigue, but had R-chop chemotherapy infusions prior. My body became acclimated in about 2 months during treatment. The dizziness and lack of balance diminished soon. Everyone reacts differently of course.
How are you doing now, December 2022?
All the best.

Don, are you finished treatment for the moment or still on chemo?

Hello - I noted that you said you have a rare form of Hodgkins that you are receiving rituxan for. Is this NLPHL?
That is what my 27 yo son was diagnosed with a couple years ago. His was pretty advanced. He was successfully treated with RCHOP, but unfortunately it returned shortly after he finished treatment. Docs at Wisconsin Carbone Cancer Center and at Mayo recommend an auto stem cell transplant as the best chance for putting this behind him. That’s what we are heading into now. He actually feels fine - but the Doc’s conclusion is we should treat aggressively now.

It’s difficult because this form of Hodgkins is so rare -they don’t have a lot of research re best treatment- and the disease seems to vary quite a bit from person to person.

My son handled earlier course of chemo just fine - hoping that means the conditioning chemo for the transplant won’t be too awful.

Hang in there with your treatment.

@zellheff hello, I know it’s been a while and I hope your son is still continuing to do well. My son was just diagnosed with nlphl at age 19. We have not done the PET scan yet. Is that when you learned he was “advanced”? Thx!

Hi. @jj999 While waiting for a reply from @zellheff, I just wanted to welcome you to Mayo Connect. This has to be quite a shock for you and your son with his new diagnosis of nodular lymphocyte-predominant Hodgkin lymphoma (NLPHL).
Is he still waiting for other confirmation testing besides the PET scan? Has his doctor discussed treatment options for your son?

@loribmt Yes, we are doing the PET scan this week to stage. The recommendation has been to start radiation first and then based on the scan results we will also consider immunotherapy. Sloan is redoing the pathology also, we just sent them his slides. And, thank you for the kind welcome. You are correct, this has been a lot to take in over the past couple weeks.

@jj999, what did you learn from the scan results and new pathology? Any update? How are you doing?
