My name is Laura and I had a hysterectomy in 2018 and I was wondering if anyone has issues after the surgery and is willing to talk to me about what to do to relieve pain?

Laura @david33, as you will see I have moved your discussion about hysterectomy pain to a conversation that has already been started regarding the same issue. You will also notice that it has been moved from the group "kids and teens" to a more appropriate group of "Women's Health" (https://connect.mayoclinic.org/group/womens-health/).

I encourage you to connect with members in this group about women's issues such as your pain post hysterectomy. They are a great group and I think you will find helpful and engaging tips when you resource the right group. Can you tell me a little more about your pain? Is it sharp or dull? Does it radiate? Does it come and go or is it constant?

@david33 - Good morning Laura. Are you asking this question because you are still having problems since 2018, or are they new?

Get them to check for endometriosis. I just found out that is what has been causing my pain and problems after my hysterectomy. And they only found it when they were doing the surgery to remove my ovaries because it was thought that the pain was caused by ovarian cysts.

I had a full hysterectomy Dec 2015 due to endo, heavy periods, and adenomyosis. A year and a half later, I had to have my left ovary removed due to cysts. But over the past few years, I get random pain. It is ad if something is ripping inside of me. The pain is typically above my c-section scar, but pretty far down from my belly button. When I get this pain, I get bloated to where I have to unbutton and unzip my jeans. And sitting doesn't help, I have to be laying on my back. This typically happens when I am in a car for longer than an hour. Also, I have noticed, this happens if I wear mid or high waisted jeans. I can only wear low jeans without pain and bloating. I am only 30 years old, and I don't want to live the rest of my life with this pain. Does anyone else experience pain and bloating like this?

I am starting to wonder if the 4 abdominal surgeries I have had, have separated my abdominal muscles? I had a botched c-section 2010, a lap 2011, full hysterectomy 2015, left ovary removal 2017. Or maybe all of my organs just hate me. Anyways, I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this?

Thank you, Casey

Hi there! I also had a complete hysterectomy almost three years ago. I had cyst on my ovaries and decided to have a full hysterectomy in hopes of less complications down the road. The last two weeks I have been suffering with immense pain in my lower abdomen. I have an appointment today with my OBGYN in hopes of some relief from the pain and some answers as to what is causing it. I have also had gastric bypass surgery and my gallbladder removed all laparoscopic. I am worried now that maybe it is scar tissue that is causing this pain and I am uncertain as to what the remedy is for that.
I will be turning 43 this year and never predicted any of this. I have absolutely no desire to be sexually active anymore and that part is definitely missing from my marriage. It is an absolute horrible feeling to know that my husband is soul extremely sexually active and wants to be with me but I find no pleasure in that anymore and sometimes it's extremely painful to have sex. I know I should tell him that but, I already feel like I'm a disappointment in this area of my life.

@saranye , hope you got some answers from dr. Obvious the pain is you major concern now, but I hope you also talk to your OBGYN about low sexual desire and pain. Without ovaries' and early mesopause your hormones levels are not what they use to be. Your OBGYN can suggest meds, creams, etc... that can help. Sometimes other medication can effect libido. Many anti-depression meds can lower sexual desire.

I'm having non stop cramping 3 weeks out from a hysterectomy. My surgeon thinks it could be a cyst and wants to do a CT Scan. Any advice?
