Oh my, painful symptoms, could you suggest a CT, and or a MRI. with CONTRAST? Maybe a different doctor would be willing to explore your situation.,
Usually a hysterectomy solves issues not causes them. Best wishes for you to get a diagnosis to have peace of mind.
@cherelle Welcome to connect ,we all care for each other Has your surgeon suggested to you about adhesions?Have you talked to your surgeon? I never had any other surgery but heart but I know adhesions can cause a lot of problems for people.just a thought
Hello, @cherelle. Welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect. I can imagine having such bad abdominal pain and cramps would be very hard, and you'd want to figure out what is going on.
Glad you've connected with @lioness and @pattitoo. I'm also hoping @bongs who started this conversation will return and @nurseheadakes @sandytoes14 @judibutter @gingerw who've mentioned full or partial hysterectomy will return to share their experiences post-hysterectomy with any symptoms a year-plus post surgery and also provide some support. @baxtersmom may also have some input.
Thus far, @cherelle, has the glycopyrrolate the gastroenterologist prescribed helped at all with the abdominal pain and cramping?
@lisalucier Thank you for inviting me into this conversation. @cherelle Welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect! Looking up the medication your Dr prescribed, it shows the main reason to use it is to decrease secretions. Why was that prescribed?May I ask, what was the reason for the total hysterectomy? [When I had mine Jan 1999, it was for fibroid tumors; they removed more than 7 pounds of tumor. I had no aftereffects, and no negative post-op issues.] If the reason for your surgery was endometriosis, might there be some scarring internally that is irritated during intercourse? Might there be some endometrial tissue regrowing? Also, thinking off the top of my head, might there be a shift of some internal organs that has occurred slowly in these three years, so that nerves are being triggered or moved? Have you had abnormal weight gain, or loss? It seems some further testing/imaging by your doctor is in order. Please let us know what course of action you decide to follow, and the results. We care here at the cyber table, about your well-being.

The medication my gastro Dr gave me is helping but now I am having the cramps more often
I had the hysterectomy because of fibroids and my cycle lasted 2 weeks but of late I get the cramps after sex and after my hysterectomy I gained weight but now I am losing and its after sex I'm sore and low sex drive
I looked up glycopyrrolate on WebMD and a side effect is cramps.
I had a total robotic hysterectomy for endometriosis and still kept having crampy pain but no one could find anything. Then last summer started having unnatural bleeding, but still no one could find anything. Finally my GP found it and said it was possibly an endometriosis breakthrough. She had my ob/gyn
cauterize it
@cherelle There is a natural hormone reduction when a hysterectomy is performed. If you are or are not on hormones, you might want to have the hormone levels checked. Certainly keep after the doctor until your concerns are answered in a manner that you are satisfied with. Get a second opinion if need be. We shouldn't have to suffer needlessly.
