Stomach issues I’ve been suffering with for years with no help!

Posted by cotton @cotton, May 22, 2019

I have been having a stomach problem I can’t find an answer too as to why I get extremely sick at my stomach every time I have a Bowel Movement, my GI Doctors I have seen say they don’t know why this is happening to me just that it is a complex issue the Doctor doesn’t seem to understand how very sick I get It doesn’t matter if my stool is normal, diarrhea or constipated I still get the awful nausea..I have gastro esophageal motility disorder & gastrointestinal motility disorder and bile induced gastritis..I’m feeling desperate to stop this bathroom issue...The medication my primary Doctor has given me for nausea doesn't help.... I would appreciate it so much if anyone has this problem if you would share your problem with me & what you do for it & WHY it is happening...Thank you all so much..

I am thinking, perhaps, to do everything you can to promote a healthy stomach. Natural probiotics such as sauerkraut, kefir....eat/drink daily. Also, you may try to eat papaya, the natural fruit, daily, as it is loaded with enzymes to heal your intestinal tract. I would also suggest using bone broth, in powder form, and add it to orange juice. It must be taken with vitamin c, so adding it to orange juice is good. Do this twice a day. Drink turmeric, pepper, and ginger tea. Make it yourself, with sprinkles of these 3 ingredients. Be sure to use the pepper, because without it, the turmeric is not absorbed. Use all these things daily, and also eat a diet as if you have the flu for a few weeks. Eat only plain white potatoes, white rice, bananas, plain jello, etc. Do this for at least 2 weeks. The whole idea behind doing all of this is to heal your digestive system. Give your digestive everything to try to get well. I have done all of this, and it works. God bless, and I hope you get well. @cotton @hopeful33250 has some good questions there, have you had problems before, or surgery to which it could possibly be related?

With these problems going on for so long make sure you find a hospital that has an excellent reputation for gastroenterology. I generally google to make sure I am on the right track. Fortunately, I live in southern NH so Boston is about 55 miles down the road and I use Mass General for just about everything. On most rating sites they are in the top 3 hospitals in the country for most specialties, along with Mayo and Cleveland Clinic, and Johns Hopkins generally comes in up there or in fourth place. I know nothing about hospitals out your way, but teaching hospitals are generally a good place to start.

I started getting stomach pain at the age of 15, I thought it was just a diet issue so I fixed that but my pain increased, I wouldn’t eat the entire day and just drink water until I got home at 14:00 and would proceed to binge eat . Then the anxiety and depression hit and I forced myself to eat in the morning so i wouldn’t be in pain, we went to the doctor she gave me anti anxiety meds and anti inflammatory meds for the course of 6 months I did that but the pain was still there and the meds weren’t helping anymore so I left school so the anxiety would decrease and got a gastroscope And they took a biopsy and found no irritation at all in my stomach, “apparently due to the stress I released adrenaline acid into my stomach when I didn’t eat and the combination of water destroyed my stomach lining “ that’s what I had been told along time before I got the biopsy and now that “I had no irritation in my stomach “ we just gave up and I had to live with the pain and it’s only really triggered by stress and two/ three hours without eating . When I eat an excess of one specific food I get allergic to it and my stomach just is in excruciating pain, bowl movement fluctuate some days they are good and some days they aren’t.Never has blood involved and I don’t think I have any ulcers. Joint pain became an issue about 3 years ago (17) . I just need some help finding direction because I have a strong feeling this is chronic and I cannot go any longer without treating it.

Hi @biancaashleybonser and welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect. You will see that I moved your post to a discussion that closely relates to what you are describing. Thought you would like to connect with other people going through something similar like @whattodo, and @mmoss
Have you considered going to a multi-disciplinary hospital like Mayo to get multiple views of the same issue?

I spent 4K out of pocket on 3 tests at Mayo Clinic Jacksonville. It took 7 months to finally get appt .After 5 other Gastro Dr’s in 2 states including Duke University, I thought this is my last and best try to finally help with my many chronic digestive disorders that were diagnosed thru the years.
Well Mayo although very professional, did not and could not help me .
He suggested a few weird things to me like speech therapy ( I speak perfectly normal), Diaphragm breathing coaching ( I already know how to do that ), or try another antidepressant ( no thanks )! I have Gastritis, Esophagitis, Class B GERD, diverticulosis, small hiatal hernia, small flat polyps on my stomach lining, I deep wet belch over 2000 x day / night , my gut ( intestines)churns bad 24/7 and sometimes so loud it wakes me up . I sleep poorly even taking Ambien. I have cleanest diet one can have and have done over 15-20 tests and everything holistic you can do . Started at 52 now I’m 60 . It’s ruined everyday for 8 years.
My Sons big wedding 💒 is next Sat and I’m so nervous about the whole weekend!
I pray 🙏 that you find the right Dr. To help you . So far I haven’t. Not sure where to go from here . It’s awful 😢.
