I can't sleep when taking Cymbalta: What else can I do for pain?

I have tried Cymbalta (Duloxetine) but I can't fall sound asleep with it. I would like to give it a chance but I need to sleep. I take it for pain after my hip replacement.

@mmoss, Good evening. I just passed this way and saw your post. I have a question. Have you consulted your clinician about your desire to get off Cymbalta? Based on my experience, the two work well together. The Cymbalta reduces anxiety and knocks the top off of depression. The gabapentin reduces pain and the needles that go along with neuropathy, especially in the arms and hands. It is difficult to find that perfect combination.

I did go get one of my capsules and cut it open with small scissors while holding it over a dish. There are tiny beads inside the capsule so you could easily measure each to be 10 mg,

@artscaping, Hello, Chris. Good to hear from you're smart, experienced brain....you help so many folks with your suggestions. Questions: could it be dangerous or risky to cut a casule, since the beads could be different types of med, a mixture, not all the same so you won't get the proper amount of whatever is in there? I'd hesitate to do that.....and, I really feel so strongly these kinds of adjustments must be overseen by our providers. I guess I learned the hard way the kinds of effects you don't want that can happen when you do these things on our own.
Had a rough night last night. I'm having an endoscopy this Friday and am off my acid reflux meds, Protonix off for 2 weeks, and pepcid, off tonight. When I took my dropper of my beloved 1:1 MMJ, it set off a reflux reaction I haven't experienced in years. Burning like crazy, hurt, coughing, couldn't breath, drooling since couldn't swallow saliva, tearing, and more difficult issues. It lasted a couple hours!!!!! I sipped a bit of water and green tea, took Cepacol lozenges I bought for after the procedure. It wasn't pleasant. I went to bed on 3 + pillows, then up in recliner and sent message to doc via portal. Just wanted him to know and tell me if there is anything to do to help until the procedure. Haven't heard yet, so will keep on keeping on.
Yuck! I'll make it and the endo will give us good info. They're attaching a sensor to the esophogus to record the amount and type of acid, stomach or liver? Called Bravo Endo. I will carry a recorder to monitor the sensor, then return the monitor next week. The sensor will work its way out though my system. Interesting. Hope we find re Barrett's Esophogus and precancerous cells and hietal hernia, and some upper abdomen pain and other stuff. Good test, yucky test, difficult nights until then I fear.
Just some of what we enjoy these days!!! Taking a short walk right now with my hot pink walker, need to name her.....It's a bit warm, 81, but ok for a short stroll and will get me out. Good thing...

So...I opened another capsule. I have attached a photo. All of the beads are the same size and color. It still would be best that you contact your clinician. Good luck with your decision.
