Frankincense and Myrrh for Neuropathy pain

Posted by hotfooted @hotfooted, Apr 26, 2019

Today I saw the Nutritionist that my doctor sent me to.. As usual, my feet were red and burning. She told me that many Diabetics that she counseled used Frankincense and Myrrh drops mixed with a lotion and they swore by it.. wouldn't be without it. She had some and we tried it on my poor feet right then.. It was absolutely amazing! My feet cooled down immediately and they became their normal white skin again. That was this morning and they are still okay at 5:30 in the evening.. My gosh, maybe I'll be able to sleep better tonight... Have any of you tried this? If so, what has been your experience with it? I'm hoping to hear lots of comments back...

John, Thank you for answering my questions so quickly.. I just went back and re read your previous posts.. Am I correct in thinking you used the essential oils by other companies? Many of them state that they are 20% Frankincense or whichever oil you are looking at.. and they are combined with different other things.. I want to emphasize that the product that I'm trying out is NOT that.. The brand name of the one I'm using is : Frankincense and Myrrh NEUROPATHY.... spelled out exactly this way on the box and label... This is very important! I know because I did purchase a bottle of each of the essential oils, tried them in an emergency, and altho I may have obtained some relief from the intense burning they did not help like the one mentioned above.. I do hope folks will read and make note of that fact..

Now I am wondering if perhaps that is what you tried before? If so, I encourage you to get the one I'm testing and give it another whirl.. And blessings on you.. I so appreciate having you to guide me thru the ins and outs of Mayo Connect..

I am still rather lost on Connect.. Hopefully this is where I continue with my reports on the Frankincense and Myrrh NEUROPATHY that I'm trying for Erythromelalgia and Neuropathy..
My drops finally arrived yesterday and just in time, I thought! My feet did fairly well all day even tho I spent more time standing than usual.. but as often happens around bedtime, the right foot flared up really bad.. Red hot, swollen, and painful.. So, I mixed my new drops with hand lotion, rubbed it on my feet, sat with them propped up for a while just hoping I would be able to get to sleep relatively early.. Lay in bed for an hour or two, finally got up and sat in the shower spraying feet with cold water.. Went back to bed, tossed and turned a while.. Put socks on, took socks off.. At last they cooled down enough and I finally fell asleep.. Today they feel very numb.. I'm wearing socks and sitting in my wonderful recliner, feet up.. The drops didn't help as quickly as previously, but I'll try adding more of them to the lotion next time and will let folks know how that goes.. So far, so good today, tho..

So, looks like it takes more than 6 or 7 drops to calm my red hot tootsies down.. Today, on my son's recommendation after reading the instructions on the label, I used 12 drops.. and it worked like it did the first time only with half the drops.. Looks like I'll sleep tonight if I'll just go to bed.. smile..
Also, my husband sent Mayo Clinic's neuropathy recipe to my doctor and they will be calling me soon.. This is for a compounding pharmacy to fill.. luckily for me there is one in a nearby town. I'm in a quandary about which to be using when we get that one filled.. Guess I'll continue with the Frankincense and Myrrh Neuropathy for now, then try out Mayo's which is for Erythromelalgia.. Yayyyy.... Looks like some relief will be achieved soon. My hopes are up again...

I have ordered some today on Amazon, same as Walmart. Mixed reviews but over 60 % say it helps a lot . So I will try it and give a review. I have neuopathay in the feet. Tingling not pain. Prediabetes induced.

I tried the oil with some lotion. Mixed 8 drops in at night time. Had no effect over night. Tried it again in the morning. No effect.
Then tried the next day and rubbed I Syringe full on my feet. Had absolutely no effect.
On reflection it I'd difficult to understand the mechanism by which it would work. Unless it is purely psychological. The brain will do so much to protect the body.
My experience.

Thank you for trying it out.. and I'm sorry it didn't do anything for you. The reason for my posting about this oil is to hear what others who try it have to say.. an experiment.. I am using 12 drops w/lotion twice a day and it's providing me relief enough to walk through my house, stand at the sink for a brief time, just be on my feet some without the pain. Along with neuropathy I also have Erythromelalgia, which causes my feet to swell and turn red, hot, and burning.. After using it, which I just did my morning rub, they are tingling a lot and the skin color has gone back to normal. Nothing works for everybody.. I will continue using Frankincense and Myrrh as it helps me so much.. I am so going to be checking out the Turmeric that folks are talking about.. Need to do more research on it today.. so if any of you have used it and would like to let me know your experience, please do so... I welcome all feedback..

A follow up on my purchase of Frankincense and myrrh. I tried it first night with lotion. 1 syringe full. No effect.
Next night tried it on its own. Ribbing it on my feet. No effect. In retrospect I can not imagine the mechanism by which this is suppose to.work. perhaps psychological. The mind will do strange things to help the body.
Did not work for me.

I suppose it's possible that the relief is all in the mind.. As I said before tho, my first experience with it was at the Diabetic Clinic at the local hospital and the redness and heat began fading on my feet immediately. I haven't been able to tolerate anything on my feet without increasing my pain for many months until then. Now I am using the F&M oil once each morning on awaking and again at bedtime. Today I was able to be on my feet, with lots of rest periods and feet up in between. I did some dusting and light cleaning and felt almost like a normal lady.. This week I'll be going to my first nutrition class and will be asking the folks there if they have used it and what their reaction has been. It has changed my life for the better so far and I hope it continues..

I am so pleased it worked for you. I have let's say mild neuropathy I the feet. Does not hurt, does not burn . I play tennis and pickle ball with no problem . I take 600 mg of gabapentin a day. Which helps take the tingling away. I would like to reduce it to 0 that's why I am trying these things.
You case is much worse and here it clearly has an effect.
