Does anyone find that a type of shoe helps your foot neuropathy?
I am on a constant quest for shoes that don't kill my feet due to the neuropathy. I find that Spencos and Wolky shoes seem the best. Are there any other suggestions? Shoes can be just crippling for me. Horrid.

I benefited from gait instruction and some simple exercise for my balance and I don't think having the right shoes solves balance problems.
The gait practice and balance exercises helped me very much. I listened to my chiropractor whom I haven't seen for for quite a while now. You might find instruction on the web. It is good for everyone, usually. Dorisena

I've tried a lot shoe brands for comfort and for ones that aren't too snug, because of sfpn pain. Contact with anything, whether it's the inside of a shoe or sheets and blankets. I don't know of any shoe that improves balance, but in PT I do several balancing stations. Perhaps PT would be the most helpful course of action for you, even if it's just to learn things I can do at home.
I know that most people put off using aids like a cane or a walker, but they could save us from serious injury if we fall.
Whatever solutions you find that help your balance, do all you can to stay safe and independent..

I agree with your entirely, Jim. Plus, I like to stand in the shower and see how many times I cam lift my heels up and down. I suppose I should use a walker or cane, but I find that my German walking stick keeps my back straighter than a cane. If I use a walker, I don't feel so independent. So I make myself concentrate when I walk, and I have not fallen for over a year now. My daughter thinks it is best if I stay in my home now. Hooray! Dorisena
@dorisena I wear flip flops in the shower and have a memory foam mat to step on getting out.
A shower floor mat with suction has made my weaker legs and feet feel more secure while standing in the shower.
@rwinney Also just a towel in tub Ive used this for years got tired cleaning mat
@rwinney, @lioness, There are now tub and shower mats with the suction that can be washed in the laundry. I like those also.....helps with feeling secure.

@lorirenee1 Can you describe or name the specific foot exercises you do? I have done some that result in more pain. I am expecting to get PT soon and maybe they can prescribe some. I can tolerate my tennis/walking shoes for about 30 minutes before I have to take them off or the pain is too bad. I only wear socks in the house and that is not good either for different reasons.I have been looking on the internet for the Spencos and other shoes recommended on Mayo Connect and they are either sandals or closed shoes that I know would not be an improvement so I am trying to find other solutions. Thanks for any advice.
Lori- Great question. I began using a graphite arch support insert in for all my shoes and buy shoes 1 size larger for extra toe space. The pain and tingling are less but not gone altogether. I hope this helps you.
