Recipes, Food Tips, Healthy Eating & More
Some of the members of the Gratitude Discussion Group were interested in having a place to share recipes and food ideas. I’m hoping that we can use this thread as a place to have that kind of discussion. I’d love to hear your ideas for quick meals, comfort food, healthy snacks, and more.
Personally, I’ve just been through a bad reaction to one of my medications that left me with a very queasy stomach. I would love to hear ideas – or recipes – that might be used when you need to get something on your stomach, but don’t want to overdo it.
Hopefully, this thread will even be a place where we can share recipes for special treats and yummy rewards. It doesn’t always have to be healthy!
I’d love to hear from members who have been part of other discussions AND from new members who have good ideas, recipes and food tips to share. I’m excited to see who might start us off here with an awesome food suggestion!

Do what @marjou says and never buy thin cut pork again. If you want to buy a pork chop only get the thick bone in chop. Otherwise the thin pork chop is only good for stir fry. Pork cutlets, on the other hand are a different matter.
I would cut it into strips stir fry first...briefly...take out and do the veggies in the same pan and then throw the pork back in when veggies are done. You can freeze but leftovers will stay a while in the fridge .....you can add any kind of Asian stir fry sauce you have...soy sauce etc at the end. I like to add pineapple and peanuts to mine and use carrots, onions, peppers but really anything you have on hand. It’s really a good fast meal...just don’t overcook the veggies and you can have over rice if you like. Or you can wrap it up in a pita. You will enjoy it.
It does involve some chopping or slicing.....so ...get a grip.
Thank goodness you have us here!

You guys should know I'm not into chopping, cleaning slicing and all that nonsense plus I have to go to store, how fun☹️😤😢🤬
COOKING SUCKS!!!!!!!!!
Thanks kids, (not really but saying it is the polite thing to do.)

“Thank goodness you have us here!”
I’m not so sure about that. If you guys had never answered I probably just would’ve thrown it out and are a bowl of cereal.
now I have all this agony and misery to go through not to mention going to the grocery store.
Oh yes thank goodness,
Jake
@jakedduck1 Your to much
@jakedduck1 Grocery stores here have bags of chopped carrot sticks and chopped cabbage and pre cut onions and peppers. Try not to stress but enjoy your accomplishment!!
@jakedduck1 Look for pre cut, chopped veggies....carrots, onions, peppers, bag of chopped cabbage. You can do it!
@marjou
I forgot to put the cabbage in. I got brave and tried some leeks and parsnips. 1 parsnip cost $2.49 unbelievable!!!
Anyway it was a MISERABLE 3 1/2 hrs in the dungeon.
These people who say they feel better when they switched to a healthy diet, I believe it's all in their heads. No one ate more unhealthy than I did and I don't feel any different now than I did before. I overcooked the pork and carrots and undercooked the beans and sugar peas. Oh well, it'll keep me alive.
Next time I ride in for some advice just tell me to have a bowl of cereal and be done with it.
Thanks for help. Obviously I need all I can get.

@lioness
Do you really enjoy cooking?
My friend invited me to dinner for my birthday next week.
I hope she makes me some snicker doodles, Chocolate chip maple cookies to take home.
I think it was last year she sent me home with three cakes and some cookies. Do I know how to pick friends or what?
Take care you crazy people who like to cook,
Jake
@jakedduck1 I agree with you! Eating healthy does suck, but I commend you for trying! I am searching for a good and simple cookbook on the Mediterranean Diet. Frankly hate the word "diet"! Enjoy your day.
@marjou
Hi
If you goggle Free Mediterranean Diet cookbook, it will bring you to several websites offering free meal plans...one offers a free online book and daily newsletters. You may not have to invest in a cookbook although I love to read them.
@jakedduck1
Don't the supermarkets in your area carry pre chopped veggies? What a timesaver that would be for you...There must be some smaller places that do. I'm thinking of people who have difficulty chopping and dicing for physical reasons and of course, those who hate to prep....
