Recipes, Food Tips, Healthy Eating & More

Posted by Debbra Williams, Alumna Mentor @debbraw, Feb 22, 2019

Some of the members of the Gratitude Discussion Group were interested in having a place to share recipes and food ideas. I’m hoping that we can use this thread as a place to have that kind of discussion. I’d love to hear your ideas for quick meals, comfort food, healthy snacks, and more.

Personally, I’ve just been through a bad reaction to one of my medications that left me with a very queasy stomach. I would love to hear ideas – or recipes – that might be used when you need to get something on your stomach, but don’t want to overdo it.

Hopefully, this thread will even be a place where we can share recipes for special treats and yummy rewards. It doesn’t always have to be healthy!

I’d love to hear from members who have been part of other discussions AND from new members who have good ideas, recipes and food tips to share. I’m excited to see who might start us off here with an awesome food suggestion!

Don’t mess with us Marys, Jake. If I ever find bug larvae in my chocolate someone will pay!
However, if you are referring to the famous drink...well then...alright..... as long as you don’t forget to pick up the celery when you go shopping.

It’s bloody hot in Florida,

Cheers from FL Mary

Hot and probably bloody humid too.
A bug drink?? Jeez, It really was a smart decision I made not to drink. So you drink bugs?? What kind of bugs. If I ate bugs I’d have to be sozzled too. Personally I’d think the bugs would taste better than the liquor, at least from what I’ve tasted which is very limited.

Here are some dinner suggestions for you,

Sure glad I’m not a connoisseur.
Bon appetit,

@jakeduck

No, I don’t drink bugs but I have know a gnat to fly into my wine. Think of all the protein and healthy fats in bugs with little caloric content. I would try Cricket pasta but bugapoop tea? Don’t think so. I have eaten smoked eel and smoked snake...tastes like chicken. Also raw conch which was awful and mashed lambs brains which was very good. Can’t remember why I ordered that . I like calamari and sushi and mussels and clams so I would not be averse to trying a chocolate covered bug as long as they took the antennas off.... but no beetles as there are too many here in Florida.

Gotta be careful when you fall asleep outside and you are a mouth breather. 🤭

It’s Florida Mary

YUCK ICK and GAG, to everything you mentioned except sushi, provided it’s vegetable sushi.
I think I may be in the market for a new cooking coach.
Hey, why don’t you add your picture to your posts?

Hello
I think you should change your profile name to jakeyuck or Jakeick or Jakegag. Lol. I will get around to uploading a selfie ..haven’t really thought about it. Too busy teaching you about nutrition and the fine art of sautéing. I will , though I am tempted to upload a pic of Mary Tudor

Florida Mary banished me to the kitchen for an hour, I haven’t murdered anyone, robbed a bank or done any other hideous crime to deserve such a severe sentence but while there I broke a dish. Naturally I had already washed and dried the blasted thing. Mary must be a descendent of Bloody Mary. Food is getting scarce so I’m gonna have to bite the bullet and go to the store, but not today.

Any plans to go to the store today, @jakedduck1? I was sorry to read about being banished to the kitchen for one hour. That was cruel!

@merpreb Merry, Thanks for an easy recipe. You can substitute grouper or haddock for the cod. Delicious!

@sandystoes14- That's right, any mild fish or any fish that like tomatoes! The Portuguese were big fishermen and have delicious recipes too. They sailed from several ports in Massachusetts. Other than tomatoes what other recipes have you tried for mild tasting fish?
