Recipes, Food Tips, Healthy Eating & More

Posted by Debbra Williams, Alumna Mentor @debbraw, Feb 22, 2019

Some of the members of the Gratitude Discussion Group were interested in having a place to share recipes and food ideas. I’m hoping that we can use this thread as a place to have that kind of discussion. I’d love to hear your ideas for quick meals, comfort food, healthy snacks, and more.

Personally, I’ve just been through a bad reaction to one of my medications that left me with a very queasy stomach. I would love to hear ideas – or recipes – that might be used when you need to get something on your stomach, but don’t want to overdo it.

Hopefully, this thread will even be a place where we can share recipes for special treats and yummy rewards. It doesn’t always have to be healthy!

I’d love to hear from members who have been part of other discussions AND from new members who have good ideas, recipes and food tips to share. I’m excited to see who might start us off here with an awesome food suggestion!

@jakedduck1 I don't think you want to be in NH. You would wimp out in the winter. 😀
I make a ham and cheese filled bread that my son used to LOVE. He wanted me to send it to CA for him! I asked him if he had any idea what that would cost for express shipping with dry ice. He was young and had no idea.

Your right about me in N.H. in the winter. You could come out here in the winter when you visit my brother and bring us some of those ready made sandwiches. I’ll visit in the summer.
Ya know, ya wouldn’t even have to cut it. Just gnaw on it till ya get full and throw it back in the fridge till dinner. No cooking, no dishes. I’d pay any price!
Later Mom, say hi to dad,

Looks so good, @contentandwell. How did you do that?

@hopeful33250 it’s actually not that difficult. You roll out the bread dough, put the filling down the middle, cut strips on the sides and fold them over the filling, alternating. I always make my own bread dough but you could use the prepared bread dough that many supermarkets have. That’s simply frozen bread dough that they have thawed.

@jakedduck1 I wouldn’t sell them but I worked in the office at a four diamond inn and restaurant for a while and brought them to work on special occasions. Even the chefs loved them!

@jakedduck1 How was your grocery delivery? I received a text message saying that Leonard used the coupon! Welcome to Instacart!

I really like the service. We have some minor hic cups occassionally, but then when I went to shopping myself, I'd forget items too, so I don't get mad.

The difference between roast beef and pot roast to me is
pot roast - I cook that in Guiness beer, so its tender and pulls apart, it's an arm or chuck roast
roast beef is other cuts of roast, it is cooked drier (not in beer), and the meat is sliced.

Hi,
That’s quite a user name you have.
Your meals are a bit involved for me. To many ingredients. I like lots of ingredients especially in salad provided someone else makes it. I have the gal I hire make the more complicated meals.
What’s the difference between Pot Roast & Roast Beef. I thought they were the same thing. See what happens when I think, lol

@jakedduck1 Leonard, I don't like my user name at all! @user_ch53e9c09 is awful. When I signed up for Connect I was dumb not to change it to something. I emailed Connect support and asked if they could change it to something, I never received a response back from them, so I guess the answer is no 🙁

@user_ch53e9c09 I haven't tried it, but at the top of the on the right side is a square with 3 lines in the box. Click on this to open the menu. Select My Account. The first thing on top is where you can enter a picture. Right below that is a box where you can enter some information about yourself. When I click Edit, it shows my user name and it looks like I can change it.
